This is a poll for Affiliates only.
If you are a merchant, an OPM, or AM, or any type of non-affiliate please do not participate in this poll. The question is: Should ShareASale allow toolbars among various affiliate and/or merchant sites within the SAS network? Please vote yes or no. Feel free to write a brief reason for your vote. |

I voted "NO", because some of these toolbars are really just thiefbars sitting there waiting to take honest affiliates costumers and commission. Many of them are unfair, unethical and unmoral. How do we know which toolbar is "good" and which is a thiefbar? We don't. Therefore, personally, I say just keep them out of the equation, then we don't have to worry about it.

I voted "No" because I believe this network should continue as ShareASale and not turn into SnatchAwayASale

Even the most innocent looking toolbar has the potential to be very dangerous. The behavior of a toolbar can be switched at will by the owner of this toolbar. The owner of the toolbar is not the user but the "affiliate" or "potential affiliate" who found a way to download it on the user computer. The user (or a network) can't control what a toolbar does.
With a toolbar installed, a visitor, looking to buy from your site, views your content though a frame controlled by your competition. The frame is the browser controlled now by your competitor, able to flash, warn, remind... a message to drive your traffic away. Do you remember, how affiliates were framing merchants sites, a few years ago, to avoid to have to write content? Toolbars are just the modern version. Framing is not accepted anymore in affiliate marketing. Why should we accept toolbars? Because they have more bells and whistles? Come on... Last edited by Zeus; February 2nd, 2009 at 03:22 AM. |

Definitely NO for all the reasons Zeus and all of the other members have already stated over and over and over again very clearly in the other large thread on this topic.

No because I do not believe that there is any way to enforce the standards. There is no way to keep the door open only a crack. Allowing toolbars into the network will rip the door right off the hinges.

I voted no (so did a whopping 40 out of 43)
A lot of affiliates (and merchants) should be re-thinking their business decisions if this continues and Shareasale allows any kind of toolbar affiliate to remain in the network |

I voted no because I don't want anyone having the ability to steal my hard earned sales. Simple as that.

*ducking for cover*
I voted Yes. As long as ShareaSale allows cash-back sites to become affiliates, then I can not justify keeping toolbars out..

----------- I didn't vote because I read the caveat, but it would be no based on the question as posed.

I didn't vote, but as the question is phrased there is a problem. *Merchants* can indeed have a toolbar that *won't* overwrite any affiliate links and that *can* provide customer service and have search capabilities that would actually help close sales and help affiliates earn more. *However* I don't see that many people would actually care enough to install them.

Affiliates seem to have the weaker voice in this matter. If someone would like a poll for AMs, OPM, Merchants, and what-have-you, then that person can start a poll. |

Brian is pretty much ignorning them Loxly. He made a policy change with out them then wants to hold a bogus meeting.
The PMCA or what ever it's initials are wants to charge affiliates for having their voices heard and probably would ignore them too. |
