Anyone jumping on the dump Go Daddy train due to their support of SOPA?

No, I have 99% of my domains there and happy with them. Never had a problem, very good account rep etc. I didn't like them supporting SOPA or any other company but they fell back some because of the outcry, had their name removed. Dell supports SOPA as well and I love my new Dell I got a few weeks ago. Some of the people moving their domains, will be doing so on their Dell.

Also read this article:

"However, on the same day that 21,054 domains transferred away, 20,034 domains transferred in."

"GoDaddy has over 32 million registered domains"

So we'll see how many get moved out.

I am 100% against SOPA but I'm also 100% against hurting myself.

I agree with Trust and I don't make emotional business decisions. GoDaddy has been good to me and offers value that I can't find elsewhere. They have problems just like any hosting/registrar, but I'm glad they listened to their customers and dropped support for #SOPA.

My local Senator Herb Kohl is a sponsor of #PIPA and I've been working to get friends and family in the voting district to contact him.

Moved to Domains & Hosting and updated the title as this is an important conversation. Here is a related conversation of where this has been heading for the last six months: ISPs to Police Content?

I've never been a fan of godaddy, although I have a handful of domains over there. Probably won't move them anywhere.

I agree about not making emotionally based business decisions, although I think some people look at it like they are 'voting' with their pocketbook.

I've never used gd for site building, but thought this might be kind of interesting for anyone who does.

@simcat

Thanks for sharing link. In article a very nice point mentioned by author
Quote:
“I figured out that they got those external links by embedding links in their clients websites.”
But if you check the link building techniques of other big hosting companies that ranked well for specific highly competitive keywords; you will find the same thing … The fact is a lot of leading hosting companies are using this way to get ranked well.

Google has a black box over their logo. The mouseover says "Tell Congress: Please don't censor the web!"

So arrests are made in New Zealand for a Hong Kong corporation using U.S. laws? 18 domain are seized, where does a domain reside? Don't get me wrong I want to see Internet piracy stopped but this seems to speak to Big Brother Government crossing international boundaries.

Megaupload is a registered domain in Hong Kong for the U.S. bast registrar DOTSTER.COM.
