This is probably time sensitive, if you are near a TV CNBC just teased a coming up story titled Amazon vs the States.

I watched it live, it was pretty biased to making people think that it is just taxes that should be collected. The lobbyist for the tax law didn't mention *how* they were making it so the taxes needed to be collected. He did say that it wouldn't really add up to much more revenue for California in particular. The person speaking on behalf of the "opposition" stated there are 8000 tax districts all with different rules and that is why it is unconstitutional for states to require out of state companies to collect sales taxes. He tried to get in that the new laws are making "advertising on the internet" establish a base to collect taxes. The words "Affiliate" or "Nexus" weren't spoken, but there was a text blurb that Amazon severed ties with marketers in (list of states).

Sorry I was so PO'd that I didn't get all the specifics. The lobbyist got more air time and the other guy didn't get time to explain fully.
