Time management has been an essential tool in marketing business. It shows us how to effectively use our time in getting things done. But still I am not very much aware how can I perform and apply proper time management.
In connection to this, does anyone here have a good source of any written material about time management? Thanks in advance.

I think reading articles on time management are a waste of time
![]() Just figure out your priorities and if you want, make a schedule. I have minimums I set for myself that I hit everyday. After that is play time, work on new ideas or whatever. |

Trust's list of daily minimums:
-get out of bed -evacuate bladder -check email -comb chesthair -pour scotch -light cigar -roll passed out groupies off the couch -use groupies as foot rest -... Did I get the morning routine right? |

The book, Getting Things Done is pretty good for this. It helped me a bit. I also use a program called My Life Organized to keep track of my projects, assignments, and to-do's. I would be lost without it now.

If I could figure this out I would cut my day from 12 hours to 8 and have weekends off.
I have gone through course for Franklin Covey back in the 90's, used ACT! as a contract manager. Was a project manager with training in that. Best advice is Trusts, set your priorities and stick to them. "Multi-tasking is just an excuse for ADD" |

After reading some of the responses, I am beginning to ask if Time Management is really important. Seems to me that it is not connected to success. What do you think?

I think your post makes no sense and you are just posting either for attention or to inflate your post count.

But seriously, the cliche thing of taking 10 minutes at the beginning of the day to write down what you want to accomplish can go a long way. To the op, it seems like reading something on time management doesn't seem like a good way to use your time. I mean how much useful info could there possibly be in a book like that? Just use your common sense... |

Not much of the Time Management stuff I've studied has stuck with me. But one time management expert's image has.
This guru says to imagine an ordinary glass bottle. That bottle represents your day, and your goal is to fill it up to the max with your tasks. Now imagine your tasks as different sizes of rocks. Some sizable stones, some small gravel, some sand. If you stick to your biggest tasks all day for some reason, it's like filling your bottle with only the largest stones. Your bottle contains many empty gaps - not very efficient. To fill your bottle efficiently, you add some large stones, some small stones and some sand. Now most of the gaps are gone. Take home advice: From time to time, take a break from your biggest tasks and do some small and very small ones. What do you think? _jim coe Last edited by _jc; May 17th, 2012 at 07:48 PM. I agree that once a week you need to so a sprint and clean out all the little tasks. I start my day with a task list, prioritize, pick one task to complete, then rinse and repeat.
