Hi,
I have a new affiliate site (2 months old) and we are trying to find a 3rd party company that will do log aggregation and analysis along with giving us traffic insight. We were told Webtrends is good and doesn't cost a lot of money, but I wanted to see if anyone else out there has other solutions.
Thanks!

Since Google Analytics is free why wouldn't you start there?

Google Analytics is a free option, and it works quite well. I would recommend that also. I have had great success with that thus far. I know I am a bit late on this one. What did you end up going with?

For awhile, I was using Piwik. Forget who recommended it to me, and it seems to give you a lot of stats.

Mostly I've just gotten involved with a lot of other stuff non-web related, and have lost track of keeping stats -- but the software is free, open source, and is certainly worth your look.

Probably me, Gary. If you want to host your own solution and keep ownership of your data, I still think Piwik is the best free option out there. Here's some brief instructions I wrote on setting up Piwik goals for affiliates: http://kevinwebster.us/2011/01/11/3-key-analytics-strategies-for-affiliate-websites/

So far I like Google Analytics and Pmetrics. Google Analytics has recently added a feature called In-Page Analytics that I have found to be very interesting.

Piwik now has the ability to do ecommerce tracking to track orders + items purchased as well as tracking add to cart, items added to the cart, product & category page views.

This is not automatically enabled, instructions here: piwik.org/docs/ecommerce-analytics/

I haven't. Is the claim that they can track from click in, to click out, to sale?

Ok. just went and had a look. Certainly very do-able in reading through the documentation. Problem for me is, I'm an organic affiliate. A lot of the affiliates they want to target probably got hosed from AdWords already. :P

What the general affiliate population needs is THIS EXACT software, but for organic clicks.

As of the moment, there are a lot of options to choose from, all you have to do is to perform a little research using your internet and choose what software suits your needs. There are even some tools that are available for download for their free trial.
