Social networking on a site that is built for bloggers such as the blogfrog has helped my blogs improve so much. You can build your own community there and post as many links through out all the communities. They also have blog hops and giveaways you can join and they will bring traffic to blogs. I am not sure if they will get sales to your links or not. I have had some. Leave quality comments on other blogs that is relevant to the topic. I haven't really looked to see if there are other communities out there like that one yet. There probably are.

I would say the best sources of getting traffic to your site would be SEO strategies. Back linking and focusing on getting a better PR would be your best way to long term traffic. There are other methods such as buying traffic, trading traffic, and social media that might help as well.

Traffic is so valuable (especially when it's targeted) which is why it's probably the hardest thing to maintain for internet marketers.

Some people have already mentioned them, but use social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, etc with them. Make fan pages and what not to keep the readers updated on your blog updates. Get it ranked up on Google by making articles, just small ones of what your blog is about and why it might be interesting. Make YouTube videos, link your blog, etc. There are several ways.

Other sites will often feature news articles of this nature, because they only have to copy and paste what you provided and they benefit from it also - it keeps their readers well informed and they pickup Google traffic also based off the title and the snippet. Your site benefits from referrals, linkbacks, and getting your material in front of a wider audience which may not be aware of your domain.

Again, you need to believe that your content is strong however, otherwise it helps the other site more than it will help you or the other site won't publish anything you send them if they think it doesn't offer anything to their visitors. For thin affiliate sites this would not work, but for deeper ones this is a viable option that many content sites employ.

Yeah, I hope he can share too. I kind of doubt that it had been human traffic or so, and maybe even the dubious techniques. However, if not, then he has clearly done a good job for himself.
