While many people still figuring out a way on how to promote their products on Pinterest, being skeptical towards social media and not quite believing that this could bust anything in their business ..
Pinterest is here and its big.

Here is a recent article which is dedicated to show the numbers of this huge social network.
Pinterest Now The 3rd Most Popular Social Network Beating LinkedIn
I'm sure that i'm not the only one who is not surprised that the numbers went so high .
While its growing and making people crazy on the potential success from this social business , it is still not clear to everyone , which approach to pick .

I think that the potential is everywhere , it is all about how You use it to benefit from it.
Statistics shows that the highest percentage of Pinterest users are woman. Well, you can pretty much figure this out on your own by the main content presented and the incredible interest shown in details , colors and pretty lifestyle.

This is an interesting fact that i think every Pinterest"marketer" should keep in this mind , as to which approach to take to drive traffic from this network. We should never forget to think like a costumer when promoting our products. This can , and will, make you or brake you.

I would like to take this moment to ask the members of this forum to share their experience with Pinterest . Have you successfully managed to drive traffic from Pinterest? Did it convert? What are your conclusions and what would you like to share from your personal experience with this network?

I have had no traffic from Pinterest but I am continuing with my efforts there, strangely the only real contact I had was from a lady in New York who sent me a link to a page full of scantily dressed ladies.

Hurriedly deleted before Mrs. T came into the room.

I don't think a lot of marketers have looked at Pinterest yet and how it can drive traffic to one's site. I view it as more of a content-sharing/content curation site where images are categorized so you can easily sift through information and look for inspiration for new content for your site.

I'm curious to hear about someone being able to drive traffic to their affiliate sites using Pinterest too.

Looks like they are ditching the affiliate model ASAP!

Quote:
Since launching Saturday, Pinterest affiliate service PinDollars has attracted "thousands" of affiliate signups, a company spokesperson said. Products from H&M, UGG, and Payless Shoesource are getting link love through people pinning products associated with the affiliate network.

PinDollars sends traffic to product pages through Skimlinks, which connects e-commerce site links to publishers looking to monetize content. Pinterest users have employed the PinDollars app - a PinIt style button on their browsers - to post images of summery H&M dresses and strappy wedge sandals from UGG.

However, concerns about increasing spam-like clutter on the popular image sharing platform are on the rise. PinDollars stresses that users "just pin normally and let us worry about what clicks make money," said the spokesperson.

Last month, reports illuminated the relationship between Skimlinks and Pinterest; Pinterest was receiving affiliate fees through Skimlinks, but the company has reportedly stopped working with Skimlinks and appears to be more focused on raising investor cash than affiliate dollars.

Also, while Pinterest lends itself well to catalog-like product discovery, services such as PinDollars appear to be contributing to an influx of porn site links to Pinterest. A link to a Pinterest page showing images originating through PinDollars is loaded with racy photos of women that link to pornography sites.

PinDollars said it issues payments at the end of the month when affiliate fees owed reach $100.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't see multiple affiliates being able
to make money off of Pinterest.

I could see merchants going to Pinterest directly to make money, but it
seems to be a waste of time for affiliates. What do you think?

Pinterest seemed to come to the national attention all at once which leads me to believe it was a PR push. I have seen some network webinars on working with them but have not talked to affiliates who swear by them.

What I see is, they are using the current business model of the 201*'s. Get big using whatever inventive or shaky strategy you can. Then hope to get bought out by Mr.moneybags web giant.

I dunno, I think the effect of Pinterest depends on your market. We do womens clothing and in our brick and mortar retail stores we hear about Pinterest all the time. Women pull up clothes they have liked on their smart phones and show them to the floor staff and ask "do you have anything like this?". However we have tried using it to direct traffic to our site doing an 80/20 split between content and marketing our products and it doesn't seem to bring in a lot of traffic. The traffic it does bring does have a slightly higher then average conversion rate for us.
