Rather than just drop the programs from your site(s), is it possible to salvage the sales by swapping out affiliate links with someone in a non-nexus state? Give them 1% of the sales for use of their links and you keep the remaining 99%?
Has this ever been discussed before?

One of the problems with using another affiliates' id is that they will receive the 1099 for the income. On the amazon discussion boards, there are threads from respected affiliates who have transferred their accounts to a trusted family member out of state. They made the transfer and were back up and running within hours. They made their own deals with their relative to compensate for the taxes and other issues.
I have also seen discussions from affiliates that set up a business entity out of state and successfully gotten back into the networks and affiliate programs.
Note, I am not necessarily recommending either of these approaches nor have I tried them myself. I do believe that they can work. Just my opinion.
