I am just curious if it is just me or not... My sales are in the toilet for the past week. And it seems like BeFree and Linkshare are doing fine. Some CJ merchants I can count on for regular results and even those are getting rediculous, especially 2 of my inkjet merchants.

Is anyone else noticing that things aren't right?

Reporting does seem to be a bit "spotty".
I will get zip for awhile, then a bunch of transactions show up from one site, then zip, then a bunch of transactions from another site show up.
This seems a bit odd.
Not sure if transactions are being "lost" or just delayed. Overall, I have been "down" in the transaction department for the last week.

Same thing here. I haven't had a sale from CJ in days. Yesterdays clickthroughs were really low compared to the norm. Ink sales have died completely which is really unusual. Those are the ones I count on.

Click throughs on the up and up due to grabbing some nice Google spots on targetted keywords. Sales begining to trickle in from those clicks now.

Same apparent problem here as Commission King - highly improbable drought of sales since 16th october (see probability calculations at the Ask David Elam Thread). Had a similar drought of sales from 19th to 30th September.

Spiderman,
Same thing here, my EPC are going nowhere but down. Part of that is due to my #1 merchant showing their appreciation by reducing their commission rates.

my last inkjet sale was on 14TH oct 2001, i got this email on the 18TH

quote:

From: 4YourPrinter Inc.
Subject: New Marketing Plan
Date: 10/18/2001

Message
Dear Friends,

I have recently returned from Commission Junction University with multiple marketing strategies. Today we lowered commission to 15%. In return, we created 4 new coupon codes that should significantly improve your conversion ratio and click-through rate. Please review the following coupon codes, which will be active within the next 48 hours:

15% commission-6587
10% commission-3647
5% commission-9654
Free shipping coupon-8536

You can only use one coupon at a time. These coupon codes are ideal for opt-in email blasts and incentive sites. As always, we are creating new banners, more of which will be introduced shortly, including ones with coupon codes. Please simply add any link of your choice using a coupon code and watch the orders pour in. If you have any questions please contact me or Ryan Bart. If commission is more important than marketing incentives, please contact any of our following merchant programs in CJ:
www.411inkjets.com www.freecartridges.com www.proinkjets.com www.00inkjets.com www.123inkjets.com www.123lasertoner.com

We appreciate your support and business. The printer supply industry has become a top product line in the affiliate world. Thanks again.

Best Regards,
Mike Zaya

so, they learned at CJU to lower commissions
its the "ideal for incentive sites" line that makes me think something is definitely not shagadelic with inkjet deals any longer

I wonder what other "tricks" they learned at CJU?

One question here, they said
quote:

15% commission-6587
10% commission-3647
5% commission-9654
Free shipping coupon-8536

So if you give someone coupon code 9654 you would only get a 5% commission? Or is this their discount and you still get 15%? I'm not sure why you would want to lower your commission to 5% unless you could reasonably expect over 3 times as many sales by doing that. If the product cost $20, then the cost less 5% would be $19.00 and less $15% would be $17.00 - Seems hard to believe that more than 3 times as many people would actually place orders at $17 than would at $19.

One other question, what would your commission be if you used the free shipping coupon? $0.00?

CJU - Maybe that's where GiftTree learned how to screw affiliates by reducing cookie durations.

Like i said... by the prickling of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes!

The forum went down, as any other dictatorship would do, to censor the discontentment. AND, from the looks of things discontentment is on it's way. There is writing on the wall somewhere, I just aint deciphered it yet. I keep getting notices from merchants that I was already partnered with saying "welcome" - I got those welcome messages a long time ago with some of 'em. The scary thing with this new approval system, I wonder, are we getting paid for the merchants that havent approved us yet, even though we were approved a while back? I mean, if they have to approve us a second time, under this new system, is stuff getting tracked with the advertisers that haven't done it, yet, a second time?

Yeah, I bet they did get schooled at CJU with some slick shit, and I bet we get screwed.

Big Chuck,

You definetely seem to be on to something.

THE SMELL OF COW MANURE, drifting in from the CJU stategy sessions and the smoldering remnants of CJ's message boards.

Something is up and it ain't pretty.

Affiliates need a spy at the next CJU.

I think merchants may have jumped the gun and formed their own union, with Lex's help.

I'll give you some info from the other side. As an advertiser with the acceptance button turned to automatic, I am still getting tons of people to accept-Then when I go to accept them, it tells me they are already in the program.

As for my banners, I am working with an affiliate who is having problems with CJs reporting. Some banners are getting very low numbers for impressions or hits or anything else-while other banners are still at the normal number(and it's not just my banners). We are going to do some test purchases this week to find out what is happening.

Are any of you having the same problem?

I can vouch for banners not working correctly, as I've recently had a problem with the landing page they were going to. Should have gone to a French page but instead they went to an English page.

After writing to the merchant (and getting replies every time) things seem to be working correctly now.

CJ results - in the last 2 days we sent over 2,000 non-incentivized visitors to CJ advertisers and ZERO sales.

What's up with that...this month we have had ONE sale from over 5,000 visits to various CJ advertiser's pages.

There is NO WAY that sending over 1,000 real visitors to Intrigo Lapstations we would not get at least ONE sale.

Give me a F, Give me an R, give me an A, give me a U, give me a D.

FRAUD
Looks like a job for GUIDO and the LegalBeagle.

Hehehe, Professor, checked your raw logs to see where that traffic came from? Remember, you have free, sex in your meta tags, hehehehhe. Maybe folks are just taking your directive on the page to "Click here", and anything with "lap" in it sounds closer to what they thought they were getting into. Intrigo is a fine merchant and not fraudulant!

They convert just fine if you promote them right.

BUT, I remember that you, Frederick, are of the "just be a billboard" school of thought. That simply does not work with Intrigo Lapstation. I'm not going to say it's an easy sell, either--it's NOT. Even with extremely targeted traffic, it took more than a bit of tweaking of the pitch to get the CR going...

And if you're sending misdirected porno traffic at them, you can certainly expect a zero percent CR even with 10 billion clicks!

As for my CJ results in general, SPIKEY is the only word. More spikey than usual. Yesterday I did quite well...today, nothing. But tomorrow I may get a spike of 3X normal to make up for it! Monthly revenue has been good, so I'm not complaining. Just as long as the deposit doesn't shrink I'm not too concerned about it!

Sorry, I was just still chuckling over the free, sex in the meta tags. Obviously no SE would pick up that page for sex, since there is no other mention of it. However, the word FREE does appear right at the top. "Click Here For Cool Stuff For Your Computer All In One Place. It's Free." Yeah, right.

I doubt Lap Stations are free, though I've never shopped for one myself (three kids fighting over the lap...a computer belongs on my desktop, hahaha).

I keep on my desk something that Ken Evoy's affiliate master email course said to keep on your desk (obedient, aren't I?):

Your conversion rate will vary from 1% to 20% depending on...
1)How you reach your visitor, and
2)What you say to your visitor, and
3)How you refer your visitor to your merchant.

I don't agree with Ken's idea that content sells (I believe it is the backbone of the internet, including the sales pages, but ya gotta be selling to someone who wants to be buying), but I really like this little ditty. It's helped me look more carefully at pages that either don't have a good CTR or where the CTR is fine but the CR stinks. Of course, the merchant certainly has something to do with the CR, but I wanna be able to say I did my part well!

Leader, I've been having every other day spiking (well, for me 4 sales in a day is a spike, still!). Think if it keeps up I'm gonna try a purchase on one of the "off days".
