Has anyone been paid their last cheque due on 7/1/03 yet?
I understand that as a BeFree merchant, they have always been pretty late with their payments in the past, but 2 months to write a cheque is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE for any network!!

BeFree's accounting dept. is very slow on cutting checks even when their merchants send in the money. Notice how the moment the BF/AM crew took over the TigerDirect day to day program in May all check cutting has become a PITA compared to when Andy controlled it 100%.

Yes, I received it last Thursday in fact. They are very late in payments which are already only done on a quarterly basis. I suggest that you contact their affiliate email address and express your interest in monthly payments....
And no Mike, Befree does not cut checks for Shoebuy, they cut them on their very own.

Couldn't be farther from the truth Mike. The money comes in and out in only a matter of two days.
If a merchant cannot wire or ACH their funds in, that typically causes the biggest slow-down as mailing and paper-check cashing introduces 1-2 weeks.
There are a number of merchants who are very on top of the process, in which case affiliates have money in hand in less than two weeks from the first of the month.

What day did TigerDirect send in their money this month for July sales? Only merchant who consistantly pays quicker at BF is Computer Geeks.

I don't know when Andy sent the money. I can tell you from looking at your report that the funds cleared on or around the 21st (ignoring weekends).
As soon as the money hits the account, it's moved to the outbound payments.
If he sent them by check via mail, he could have "sent" it on the 12th, but I don't know.
The only faster merchant perhaps, who pays you, is CompGeeks. Sure, they and Andy are examples of someone who is very predictable.
What qualifies you to make these statements?
You don't have payments coming from a couple hundred of our merchants every month, do you?

Scott I have to admit I have begun to check for new merchants to promote from the BeFree pool as I no longer have to send out multiple e-mails begging them to send in payments. For the first 2 years I had to keep a seperate e-mail folder for requests and the AM replies. No longer as you now have complete reports and merchant profiles.
PS; I'd like some hints on how to get 10 steady checks coming from BF merchants monthly. A few hundred would require Charlie do drive-bys at the merchant's eCash registers passing out cookies.

Mike how many BF merchants owe you money on a monthly basis? On what INFORMATION do you base this INCORRECT assertion?
Checks from BF merchants are what keep food on the table for me and many others while we wait for the 'other network' deposit to come through.

As far as ShoeBuy goes; they're a bit on the slow side, but slow pay is better than no pay.

Step 1) Promote at least 10 merchants :P
Step 2) Get your pages to load in less than 7 minutes :P

Got 4 prime BF merchants and 80 fillers in there somewhere. Those merchants deserving of showcase exposure get links somewhere in the 1-2 minute page load range. My secret for keeping bad CC purchase reversals to a minimum is to make sure those browsing my site have broadband connections. They seem to spend more than Netzero and PeoplePc ISP accounts.
Even the BHO's waiting to popup upon complete pageloads get impatient and leave.

He's gotcha there Mike - even you, with your "answer for everything" attitude cannot possibly argue with the indisputable definitive accuracy of a set of Alexa stats.
(Hint: install the toolbar on your own machine and incredible though it may seem - more and more people visit your site. Apparently).
Bradley - you have fallen into a classic ABW newbie trap. Everyone here knows that Mike only maintains sites to demonstrate just how much can be achieved in affiliate marketing even when you do everything wrong.
He doesn't get traffic - he takes prisoners.
And anyone who gets from ecomcity to a merchant site isn't a clickthrough - they're an escapee

The "traffic details" at Alexa make me laugh too. For my main site, they are only approximately 100% off in "reach" and though uniques are climbing each month, looking at the three month change suggests I should consider slitting my wrists.
In college, a professor suggested that a cost estimate by an engineer could be defined as "a wild guess to three decimal places." Alexa traffic stats carry about as much weight, in my opinion.
Hopefully, Alexa is better in its role as spyware than as a means of tracking web traffic.

I try not to comment here on the rising or falling of EcomCity visitor and page view sats. That's why I have a very professional live stats program on my hosting server. Only help I ever get from ABWers on traffic to my site comes from the negative side. Not beyond some lurking here, or even posting, to spam the crap out of the SE's with some of my higher traffic pages to drop my PR. That's why so many who are vocal on real issues fear their domains get published on this board. Part of the hazzards of affiliate warfare.
When I become less vocal here, after the networks and merchants change into lean mean sales machines, I'll put my nose to the grindstone of the affiliate business. Till then it's just a sideline to see what works to incorporate into my web client sites who pay my bills.
Haiko's the Sherrif at ABW and I'm just part of his posse. If any truths coming out of my mouth offends you ...it was meant to do just that. If I ruffle a few feathers along the way ..so be it.

Just to set the record straight that we did finally receive the cheque from ShoeBuy yesterday. So their payment record is still pretty much unblemished.
Although I'm not so sure why it is that a cheque that was due on 7/1 got mailed only on 8/4, to think that some of the earnings were from as far back as early March.
