this is directed at Silvia:
With an attitude like the one you have towards the people on this forum, you won't get much help. Don't be so aggressive and rude towards those who are trying to help you. Take a chill pill |

I'm sorry for my attitude and I understand, I should be polite.

I am cringing right about now, but I have to be honest and share. You can create a coupon site by signing up at Linkshare, Commission Junction, and the Google Affiliate Network.
Many merchants there are major like Target, Walmart, and Circuit City. They offer monthly, and even weekly coupon text links, banners, and such that you can post to your website. Best of Luck! Carmen

There is only so much a spider bot can index from any of the current coupon sites at a givin time which is up to date ... I havent been doing coupons for long, and I've broken to many first page results for "xxxxx coupon code" / "xxxxx promo code" etc ~~~~~ And I will also assume asking some of the successful coupon sites how they do / pull the coupons - u wont get the real answer..ever |

I'm wondering if there's a simple way to just feed all the coupons to the page... a large database, similar to how others are doing it. It's just an extra added value.

I applied to work for Internet Brands doing just what you are asking. I would have had the job to contact their partners and negotiate our own coupons and codes. IB just aquired a few coupon /shopping sites. I ended up apply for another job which I didn't get, but still thought it would of been fun.
Moral of the story: Larger companies have a dedicated coupon deal getting employee on staff. :-) |

In the strict sense of the term CMS, Loxly is correct. However there is a vendor that has created a script that provides functionality of a coupon site. In fact they have a forum here at ABW, http://forum.abestweb.com/forumdisplay.php?f=542
I've looked at the program a few times and it looks like a decent basic program. But I believe its code is encrypted (which is fine, as it protects the developers investment) and not knowing what files are encrypted would make it difficult to modify to add and change code for some functionality I would want. Generally I'd give it a B-, with some nice potential for the future. |

Does anyone know how Coupons.com goes about supplying its system with coupons, I mean the original source for their coupon data?

Don't listen to these people who say you cannot make a profitable couponing site. If you use coupons and you know what you are doing, you can make a much better site than 99% of the crap that is out there. Just don't copy everyone else.
For one thing, even the "big names" like CouponMom or CouponDivas and others are frankly too hard to use from the perspective of an actual mom who wants to just get the coupons and go. Look at the site CouponBux - simple, hierarchical - only three choices on the home page. It does not get much simpler. Other big name sites like MommySavesBig - massive lists of database feeds - well those of us here on this forum know what that is - but your basic mom on the go who wants to save some dough, she does not know what a database feed is and has no desire to know... She is going to move on to a simpler site - maybe facebook! who knows? The bottom line is, you can do what you set your mind to do, and do it better if you have the burning desire to do so. My 2 cents, YMMV. -DTM |
