Hello Everyone,
I currently use UltraCart as my merchant system and am displeased. Very little with this program seems easy. I've been on the phone with them numerous times for solutions that, to me, should be simple and are not or cannot be configured for one reason or another.
My main "wants" (among others) are the ability to:
*Include an image and description of each product/service
*Add an upsell option
*Offer immediate payment processing through ProPay and PayPal
*Integrate the cart with GetResponse
*Set up and manage my affiliate program
I've tried 1ShoppingCart and don't prefer their ala carte system. osCommerce is also a "no." Infusionsoft is not yet for me.
The last straw came this morning when I didn't receive notice about affiliate payments and, therefore, affiliates have not been paid (all notification switches are "on"). Absolutely unacceptable.
Are their any online shopping carts you recommend my five top "wants?"
Thank you so much in advance,
Shirley

We use a custom cart written and maintained by our manufacturing company. However, while spending some time at the plant this week, a colleague was giving me a demonstration of Volusion's hosted system. She loves it - and she has been in the "business" for a long time. I asked for a "tour" because we have another item (in a vertical other than our "checks") that we want to sell as a merchant rather than an affiliate.

Thanks, Bill.
I think I checked out Volusion at one time and will investigate it again.

Thanks, Convergence.
I've not looked into Pinnacle Cart. On my list for review this weekend (taxes first!).

Hi Shirley,
Volusion has most everything you are looking for:
-Product Image/Description
-Upsell Option
-We integrate with PayPal and PayPal Pro (their merchant account)
-I am not familiar with Get Response, so I don't know if we are integrated with them (I can find out for you)
-Built in 5 Tier Affiliate Program
If you have any other questions, please let me know.

We are integrated with Listrak, which offers a similar service as Get Response.

Hello VolusionAM,
I appreciate this response. I recall trying Volusion in the past and it wasn't quite right for me, but that was a while ago. I'll sign up for the trial period and investigate it again.

Great! Let me know if you need anything else from me. We have just released our latest version, so you should see some big changes in our software.

Just an update to thank everyone who recommended an e-commerce program.
One doesn't have an affiliate program management option and the other failed immediately with an error message when customizing the very first product.
The search continues.

Have you looked at MivaMerchant? They are integrated with some hosting programs and offer a cart with affiliate capabilities. I used them for awhile (years ago) but then opted to buy my own cart.

No, 2busy, I've not checked out MivaMerchant and thank you for this suggestion. They're on my list for review this week.
With appreciation,

One in-house program I work with uses Miva and seems to track fine.

Magento is receiving a lot of attention - highly customizable and they have some affiliate tracking modules. I'll give a bump to MivaMerchant and a thumbs down (at least as it relates to affiliate related features) to Volusion.
