Hi guys,

I am new to this forum, I have being reading A LOT and I thought I was ready to start my own blog.. It's up for a week and I am a bit lost but that is another story

Anyway I just wanted to ask how I can have different sites from the same hosting. I currently host my blog at Hostgator, I got the Baby plan that says unlimited domain names, but I'm not really sure what that means. I mean can I have different blogs or websites on different domains, registered of course, but at the same hosting account or do I need to have different hosting? I hope you understand what I mean Thanx a lot and sorry if I posted at a wrong section...

You can have several domains on the same hosting account.

Thank you for the answer, but will it be a sub-domain, an addon domain or a parked domain?

It will be a domain on shared hosting.

it could be any of the 3, but I suspect what you're looking for is an add-on domain, where you can have multiple domains that don't appear to be linked together in any way.

your primary domain will still have its original document root, but any addons will have their root as a subdirectory of the main's directory.

If you're hosting with hostgator, I suggest you ought to contact the hostgator support people. They should be willing and able to give you instructions for setting up the domains and websites -- and I suspect they have some very basic "how-to" tutorial pages they can point you to.
