Hi Everyone,
I wanted to let you guys know we are now keeping an eye on the ad tax in Georgie. The Georgia House Ways and Means and Appropriations chairs just introduced bills, amending the sales and use tax. They are really just spot holder bills at the moment, but they could be considering an affiliate tax at some point. We’ll continue to track.
HB 1221
HB 1244
Thanks for your support! I will keep you up to date...

I'm trying to schedule a meeting with Rep. Chuck Martin, R-Alpharetta, before the session ends. His last email to me regarding HB 1244 was that it is a placeholder only. "The legislation makes absolutely no changes to the Georgia Tax Code in its current form but it needed to be introduced prior to Legislative Day 20."

There has not been any formal public change or work on these bills but it is still expected.
HB1221/1244 are primarily 2 bills that were introduced with very little details to hold a place for the actual bills. (In many states bills have to be introduced by a specific date in order to be considered during a session.) It is anticipated that at least one of these will be used to enforce an Internet sales tax.
