I'm on it....

I was just with Nassim at the affiliate cruise, we even spoke about how to grow our program even more....funny, knowing my stance on parasites, no mention of top moxie from her for the 20-30 minutes we spoke on ways to grow the program....

Crafting deactivation letter....

Sure hope you made the iGive AM pickup your bar bill Andy. "Crafting deactivation letter...." so subtile and so true.

Real long list there Haiko of merchants who approve of the TopMoxie BHO alliances to wipe out their normal affiliates referral cookies. The Charity fronts for commission con-men are very busy these days. Sure wish these merchants were so free on their comission rates with normal non-BHO affiliates. Nice list to make sure your not showcasing this group as your commission competitor is popping up 500 million cookie cutting Ads per day.

Subject: Termination of iGive.com / TigerDirect.com -

Dear Nassim,

It was a pleasure meeting you at Affiliate Force 2003. I was hoping we could have worked closer and build a stronger relationship between our companies, but unfortunately that will not be the case, at least for the time being.

As of May 6, 2003, I am deactivating the iGive.com affiliate account with TigerDirect. This means you will not be earning any affiliate commissions beyond this date. I will send you any and all monies accumulated under your account in the next check run.

Nassim, we are distancing ourselves from affiliates partners that rely on down-loadable applications such as "Top Moxie" that are primarily designed to divert and reward for traffic that originated at another affiliate partner's site. I have researched and understand how iGive.com works, and at this time iGive.com is not a good match for our program. This is from your website regarding your "shopping window":

The iGive.com Shopping Window makes sure your cause gets a donation every time you shop an iGive store!

Never miss out on a potential donation because you didn't know a store belonged to the iGive Mall-- the Shopping Window takes care of that for you! When you type the name of any iGive store (like "LandsEnd.com") into your browser, your purchase will automatically count for a donation.

Downloading the iGive Shopping Window (provided by TopMoxie) is fast, doesn't affect the speed of your surfing, and respects your online privacy - so get it now! It is compatible with almost all Web browsers*.

We feel very strongly that traffic generated by our affiliates efforts should not be reminded, interfered with or diverted in any way, shape or form. We also believe that we as a merchant should not have to "pay" any affiliate when a surfer simply types in "TigerDirect" into their browser window.

Our affiliate partners go through great lengths to promote our program, featuring our deals, creatives and promotions we give them in order to drive traffic and generate sales for them. They spend their money, use PPC's, SEO, and spend many hours tweaking and optimizing their websites. In our opinion, It's not fair for your "shopping window" application to "remind" that visitor and potentially "divert" that affiliates potential to earn their compensation. Having any affiliate partner in our program who's down-loadable application serves that purpose is detrimental to the growth, fairness and ethics of TigerDirect's program and our affiliate partners.

I hope you can understand our position on this matter. Please take down any and all creatives, links and references to TigerDirect from iGive.com's site as soon as possible.

If at any point you discontinue the use of your "application", feel free to get back to me so we can discuss our relationship again.

Looks like there are other programs that have AMs who frequent the ABW boards. Have they been made aware of this important bit of information?

Okay,
Thanks for the heads up! I'm relatively new to this, but it sounds like iGive = BAD! I assume that they steal commission from other, smaller affiliates?

In any event, I'm going to talk to my CEO tomorrow and ask to have them shut down. I'll let you know for sure.

Thanks again,
Alex

quote:
Dear ******,

Congratulations! With the iGive.com Shopping Window,
you're ensuring that up to 26% (and sometimes more)
of every purchase you make through a store in the
iGive.com Mall helps 4 Paws Rescue Team, Inc.!

*** For 1st-time use of your Shopping Window ***
Please close all Web browser windows, then re-open,
to ensure proper functioning of your Shopping Window.

=> HERE'S HOW YOUR iGIVE.COM SHOPPING <=
=> WINDOW HELPS YOUR FAVORITE CAUSE: <=

++ Just shop as you normally do-- by going directly
to your favorite store's Web site. For example:
Type http://www.LandsEnd.com in your Web browser.

(The Shopping Window will *not* be activated if you
click a link in an e-mail, or if the last site you
visited is iGive.com.)

++ If the store you visit is part of iGive's Mall of
410+ stores, your Shopping Window will appear to make
sure your purchase counts for a donation! No need to
remember which stores are part of iGive.com!

++ If you see the iGive.com Shopping Window, up to
26% of your purchase at that store is automatically
donated to your designated cause!

Remember, if you don't see the iGive.com Shopping Window
when you visit an online store, it's not one of the 410+
stores in the iGive.com Mall that help your cause with
every purchase. If you don't see the Shopping Window,
the purchase doesn't count for a donation.

=> TRY IT NOW! <=

Please test your iGive.com Shopping Window now.
Type in your Web browser: http://www.LandsEnd.com
Your Shopping Window should "pop up", and you
should also see a thin iGive.com "frame" at the top
of the page.

Remember, the Shopping Window is not activated
by clicking links in e-mail, and will not appear if
the last site you visited is iGive.com.

If you're having problems, please visit
http://www.iGive.com/html/swsupport.cfm and follow
the steps there.

Start Shopping! For a complete A-Z list of all 410+
stores in the iGive.com Network, just visit:

From an email from a merchant:

Igive does use a shopping tool, to my knowledge that offers their members a
notification on deals and merchants who will send their charity more $. If
affiliates feel that they are losing money because of them I would suggest
doing the professional thing and contacting Rob or Nassim directly. It is
very disturbing to them to be "slammed" on the boards when they are doing
honorable work such as giving their rev-shares to charity.

Are these screen shots being doctored? Got this from an AM:

" and the posts that affiliates
have put up are actually "doctored" to look like it is redirecting."

Someone's obviously fallen COMPLETELY for the marketing bullshit.

Lord preserve us. I hope your follow-up email to the merchant was a DOOZIE, Connie. :^)

If these "donate" plug-in scams spread, it will kill off affiliate marketing because EVERY sale will incur an "acquisition" cost for the merchant, pricing affiliate marketing out of the viable options list.

Pure crap. If they're so fckin charitable, why are they only giving about half of their revshare? Compare their percentages to the cash back (and i'm not defending those scum by any means) incent programs... Clueless AM, lapping it up like a good little ?*tch...

BTW, they didn't contact anyone directly about popping up....
