Hi!

I'm new to all of this and really quite excited (and obsessed) with getting my first site up and running. I've already made $11.24, apparently because my mother told one of her friends (they were talking about shoes, which is the theme of my site) even though I'd only posted a few "rough draft" pages to see what they'd look like... Pocket change, yes, but to me it's just proof that this thing works, it really works! LOL! Anyway...

I've successfully signed up with CJ, Performics, Share-a-sale, and Linkshare. Several advertisers have approved my application and I'm getting there... but I'm confused about and annoyed by something. Several advertisers have rejected my application because the site is not complete. Well, heck, I can't very well complete the site without access to all of the products I'd like to recommend. That just doesn't make sense to me. Any ideas?

Thanks!

A lot of merchants will not accept you until you have a completed site.

That's just the way it is.

Try to have a completed site - even if it's small.

You can also send an e-mail - or call the merchant if they have a phone number and talk to them and tell them what you said here.

Tell them you want to use them as a feathered merchant on your site but cannot complete your site until you can get them to approve you.

Sometimes they'll still tell you no but sometimes they'll try to work with you and give you a chance.

You don't know what they'll say until you give it a try.

O.K. Thank you for the advice. I will keep at it. I'm just glad that some have accepted the app so I can get things moving along. There were just a few products I had my heart set on including from the start. I will try contacting those guys individually like you suggested.

Burger Boy is right, build something to show you are really in this as a business. When you get rejections for merchants you really want, send them an email. You'd be surprised how many will go back and approve you.
