Hi Everyone,
I am a little new to the world of affiliate marketing. Are there any affiliate professional associations or organizations that basically promote/monitor/protect affiliate marketers. I have seen stories in the past where webmasters could be help responsible for the actions of the companies that they sale for and I do not want (have the money) to get my own attorney to advise me. I am looking for information that protects affiliates.
Thanks for your help,
Clifford

Not specifically for affiliate marketing unless one popped up that I missed, might be some general marketing ones out there, not sure.

I don't think we'll ever see an organization that protects affiliates from allegations by consumers just as you don't see organizations that protect brick and mortar stores against allegations from consumers about the products the stores sell. That's what liability insurance is for.
What I hope to see one day is an organization that protects affiliates against unscrupulous behavior by merchants and networks.

This forum is probably as close to an association as you will get and based on the varied opinions of ettiquette getting a protective agency is not gonna happen soon.

There have been various threads and discusssions here over time about possibly starting an association or whether we need one, but there hasn't to my knowledge been any serious action taken to start an affiliate association. It would be good to get a consensus on whether we need one or not though. And it's always up for discussion.

It would be like herding cats. Most affiliates are extremely independent and opinions vary widely on the important issues. I have a hard time seeing how any association could ever form. Things like ABW, Revenews, Affiliate Summit, blogs, and advisory boards are about the closest I see us getting.

It cost money to run a successful association.
