But no one can create their own Discussion where as in a forum you can. They can only comment on your opinion.

Can anyone recommend a good free forum? If not how about a cheap forum. Right now I'm using the free version of Bravenet which is pretty limited. I can't edit posts plus the times are off and it isn't listing the posts in order.
The site I am using it on is a content site so I don't really want to put too much money into it. The site will start getting a lot of traffic in a month or so. Right now it only gets about 50 visitors a day but I would like to have something decent up soon. Please note I am programming impaired so what I am looking for is something that is really easy. Thanks all

The only decent free one was Invasion but they started selling it.
There is PHPBB and Yap but both are resource hogs.
My bet is you shuld just spend 260 dollars on the forum software and the portal. Vbulletin (Vbulletin.com) and Virtuanews (Virtuanews.co.uk has a weird registratio process). However there is a free portal system for VBulletin but its limited.

Thanks Mikey, very short and precise definition. Now it all makes sense.

PhpBB is the best of the free forums that are currently updated. But, phpbb definitely falls short of vBulletin as forums go. I just upgraded from phpbb to vBulletin and have no complaints about it. $160 well spent.

Jim, is it easy to shift from phpbb to vbulletin? I mean what about the threads and user profiles etc?

Thanks Mikey and Jim for the suggestions. I'll check them out and see if I can handle it on my end
