Ok here is the story. I had an outstanding November with one of my Linkshare Merchants. Then in December I start to notice 0 conversions on the same volume of traffic as November. Normally the snare is 3-4 days behind so I didn’t give it much thought until the end of this week. Yesterday morning I chatted with snare support and they said:

“Their reports are current on our end”
“Not all clicks lead to conversions”

I tried to explain that I understood that not all clicks lead to conversions, but it defies common sense, logic and mathematics that I would have no conversions. I went on to recite my almost 5% click to conversion ratio from the month before with a breakdown of how many conversions per-week I had been averaging. Snare support retorted with “Not all clicks lead to conversions”. I said but I am sending the same volume of traffic from the same sites as last month. It just doesn’t make sense it would go from 5% to 0%. Again Snare support retorted, “Not all clicks lead to conversions”, and suggested that a test order be placed.

After that enlightening chat with snare support I did two things.

1. I placed a test order
2. I contacted the merchant directly

Yesterday afternoon, I received this response from the merchant (edited for privacy):

Thanks for your email. There is a problem with transmissions to LinkShare that
we recently learned about and are working on fixing under top priority status.
Please rest assured that we are receiving internal reports of applications.
There is NO problem here, just with transmitting them to LinkShare so that you
can see it on their interface. Once this is fixed, all of your apps from that
period will appear.

We greatly appreciate your participation in our program and the volume that you
drive. Thanks for your patience.

Please feel free to contact me with any further questions and concerns

So today I log in and am shocked to see my test order, but nothing else. It is odd on several levels, but what stands out is that snare reports are always at least three days behind for this merchant but yet here is my order I placed yesterday. I again logged into Snare Support and didn’t tip my hand right away about the email from the merchant. I got the standard:

“Not all clicks lead to conversions”
“Their reports are current and working on our end”

Then I hit them with, but that is not what the merchant said. There was a very long pause on the other end as I explained the email I had sent and the response I had received. Snare support came back online and said “That is an issue they must be working on with their Account Executive” and “is there anything else I can do for you today.”

This is the classic Link Snare/ Be Fleeced run around that you get when something goes wrong. Everyone points the finger at the other party and says, “we know nothing”

I got excited when i saw a couple of sales register in my Snare reports from Buy.com. I have been contemplating a heavy push of products, now that I see something has actually turned up in the reports. However, it is reports like this one that makes me hold off. I have read too much of this kind of reporting issues concerning Snare.

Haiko, does any of the brass at Snare lurk your board? I hope they soak some of this stuff in.

Chuck do not let me discourage you. You can make a lot of money with both Befree and Linkshare espically with the type of site you have. You will just have to put up with a lot of frustration and a few deadbeats along the way.

Lmao! Big Chuck, ummm I've read a lot of reports about all of the company's and not just Linkshare. I question CJ's reporting just as much as Linkshare and the rest of them. However, Linkshares reporting and tracking does really suck almost as bad as Befree's.

Malibber, Linkshare's online help sucks most of the time. I think I have only been helped one time there. I also get the same crap you got. Try a test order. Our tracking is working. Must be the merchant.

malibber,

I have contacted support via that chat thingy also .... same result! I have sent many an email to Messer as a result!

The thing I LOVE about CJ is that they listen ... and they change (takes time ... but they do!)

I will NOT promote LS at all (only filler banners) and only Tiger (Andy Rodriguez) @ Befree for I (personally) know he is true!
That does not mean that ABW members should not promote other merchants at the respective companies!

Chuck,

Messer is here and so is Gerace!

Glad that the management at LS and BF lurk this board and hope they see the affiliate army controls their networks future. Promised reporting of merchant performance will not be put off much longer as even the shareholders have gotten wind of affiliate dissatisfaction. They too want those hidden network sales figures not the raw impression shit they through was important. If I have to keep begging to get paid I'll just drop the 9 million impressions to non-performing merchants there and let my shoppers suffer from no name brand merchant choices.
