Nevada Affiliates,

I have some good news for you! The Nevada special session began February 23, 2010, and ended at 2:16am today, March 1st. An ad tax bill was never proposed or adopted, despite being mentioned in the governor’s pledge. Nevada’s general legislative session begins next year on February 7, 2011. Dodged a bullet this year but we’ll keep an eye out next year.

Many thanks to everyone who sent letters, made calls and visited legislators. It made all the difference – the legislators did not move forward with a bill.

Thanks for your support against the ad tax!

That is great news.

I am not an expert on NV politics - is there any way this could be reintroduced somewhere in some shape or form before next year, or is that date you mention the earliest next opportunity for them to try?

Nope. The legislature has "closed up shop" for the rest of the year. Unless there is some need for another "special session", the NV legislature (and any new taxes/laws/regulations) won't meet again until Feb. 2011.
