You might get better advice if you start your own thread for your question rather than diverting this thread that's meant to be helpful for all members.

I would say not to get hung up on the dumb stuff...or at least the basic things. What I mean is that i would always get hung up on the fact that I wasn't good at web building or trying to figure out what the most profiltable thing was. Really trying to get the perfect "recipe" for success.
Later on I found that there really is no PERFECT strategy or formula with no flaws.

So I had to just push through the stuff I wasn't sure of just to get something material together, THEN I went back over it and adjusted and trimmed and edited...and edited...and edited!

If you get hung up on these things first then you'll never even get started and be defeated by your own demons.

So put it together...even if you think it's garbage. You at least have something to show for your efforts then you can approach each problem or changes that need to be made one at a time as opposed to all at once, it can all be extremely overwhelming if your just starting out.

Never surround yourself with yes men (or women), instead select people who will tell what you need to improve / fix / are doing wrong and you'll stay on the cutting edge and more importantly be real!

I would say the best thing an affiliate should have is have one goal set up and be willing to try as my routes as possible to get there because what worked for me might not work for you.

Keep reaching till you grab on to something..

One tip that is crucial that comes to mind is the simple act of deciding on a traffic channel if you are a publisher. I see far too often affiliates who come right out of the gates saying "Facebook, I want to run on and only on Facebook". These affiliates don't realize that Facebook can be extremely selective and oftentimes it depends on the relationship you have with the facebook rep. If you want to strictly run media buys, it is a must that you consider other avenues than the big social networks. Plenty of Fish is another decent social network that allows more leeway in terms of approval.

Move your mouse over PPS and CPA for a link to the definition.

Stick to one method and scale it. Don't get scatter brained and spread yourself thin. You'll more than likely end up with a million half finished ideas and nothing to show for it.

As a newbie, I suggest that you focus on one program first. Learn everything that you can and follow what you learn in that program. Then when you are ready to take on new information, you could invest in other programs in order to gain more knowledge and get other perspective.

When you wake up in the morning, you should not be thinking "what the hell can I say about mauve widgets today?" but rather "ooo.. ooo.. mauve widgets are x, y, z, gotta write that down before I forget it!"

It's not just what you know, but what you enjoy.

Sort of the mirror image of avoiding the descending brick (and offered by someone who's heaved his share of misguided bricks.)
I really like this post AffiliateHound. I often find myself deviating to what sells rather than focusing on what I enjoy.

My tip- don't rely on one source of traffic.

If you rely solely on say Social media for traffic - changes to Twitter or Facebook's terms can kill your efforts. Instead build traffic via email, PPC, and Social media to cover any sudden drops from one to the other.

Ahh - and have a plan

I was once told that there are two real ways to make money: (1) Duplicate something else that is already making money or (2) Create something that is so unique and creative that others can't help but want it.

Obviously, the first option is much easier to create. You can do it quicker and make a pretty sizable amount of money quickly. The second option is much more risky, and takes a lot longer to set up. However, if successful, you will gain much more money.

So my advice: take the time to create something unique. Be sure to do the research on it before taking it live.

My one tip is to find your passion - match your site to your life / experience. When you are knowledgable and passionate about something it shows and gains your readers trust and loyalty.

It's also quite helpful when slow times hit - say seasonal drops - if you love what you do and would do it WITHOUT getting paid, then your efforts will always pay off.

If your ultimate goal is money - there is too much competition that is genuine in their own content, experience and skill and it's easy to crash and burn or never even get going.

Just my .02

Ownership of a product or service and having affiliates of your own will usually, if not always yield a much higher ROI.

Hello All,
I am a new member and maybe not the most experienced in this field. Yet a small suggestion/ tip:
1. Keep your knowledge up to date and try to be the very first few to try something new.
You should know the latest strategies in the market.

For example: Mobile marketing has been a great hit for sometime, so better use it before everyone starts doing it.

Thanks!
