I haven't bought any fans myself, but I understand why people would want to. Just check out the listings on Fiverr -- 1700 fans for $5...

Buying Facebook likes is valuable in only one way -- social proof. If you page has 10,000 fans, real or fake, to the average onlooker it looks like a much bigger brand than the page that only has 60 likes.

I believe the idea is that having a critical mass of fans will attract new "real" fans to hit the like button and engage. People are more likely to share what's already been shared. What do you think when you get to a blog and it's got a big ZERO in the Facebook Like box or tweet box? I think nobody else is reading this stuff.

How much is that worth and how long until Facebook cracks down on it, I can't say.

I suspect you've got the process down the way people are trying to use it. But it reminds me of the get-rich-quick scams making the rounds a couple of years ago regarding Twitter. All the "insiders/gurus" types were peddling their ebooks on how to automatically get tens of thousands, even millions, of Twitter followers and become incredibly rich.

Gahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! I never used to take people seriously when they talked about stuff like "adding value to the Internet" -- but these whacked out fools buying facebook likes or auto-building millions of Twitter followers has changed my mind.

I'm a believer of building a concrete, long term, valuable online business empire! A lot of people need to stop focusing on the money part (just for a sec ) & focus on providing value & changing people's lives! The day you start providing value, the likes will come automatically..

Think about this, you get 1 valuable like on your page today.. & sell them your product for instance.. in a few weeks of coaching them, they start generating a few bucks! I promise you, they will tell their friends & family how you changed their lives and that's free marketing my friend & it's powerful & the best part, it's free!

Now imagine getting 5 valuable likes a day.. how much is that in a month???

Take baby steps.. Easy come, easy go... I won't tell you where to buy the fb likes!

For the record, advertising on FB to get likes for your page....it is not too expensive. Likes and pluses....they will be the new "backlinks" of seo. I totally agree with rematt. U can see it now on Google and Bing.

The big brands and popular sites buy likes all the time.
'Like' us for a coupon,
'Like' us for a free sample,
'Like' us for a entry in sweepstakes,

I guess you could call it 'bribe' instead of buy. Still not an honest vote though, when you think about it.

What is honesty in the marketing world?

A commercial where some actress says she loves brand A? Is that honest? It's advertising and who is to say that FB likes are not a version of the same thing? Grabbing eyeballs long enough to market to them.

As for followers or likes, what is real and what is fake? A like is a like, a follower is a follower. I never go through the list checking names. I am always impressed when a page has 10,000 likes even though I am aware that they can be bought that thought never comes to mind when I see the number.

Bru, good luck with your biz plan of improving peoples lives - but this industry changes way to fast to lock yourself into a long-range plan of anything past the next Q4. If you are not in this for the money I hope you have been honest with your investors.

If you can't be altruistic and make money at the same time, it doesn't say much for affiliate marketing..... just sayin.

Buying FB Likes? I can't think of a better way to tell Google that you're a Blackhat Spammer. When they crawl your company/product page and see the same automated spam accounts 'liking' your page as all the other crap spammed pages it's going to throw up an instant flag.

Bribing people with a coupon to click your 'Like' button is a completely different thing. I don't think the word 'Like' should be taken literally. It should then be thought of as 'Subscribe'.(so i can spam the hell out of you later with status updates )
