I wanted to repeat, since it bears repeating, that the RI interpretation of their tax code is simply dreadful for affiliates. It way outreaches the NY version, and might give NY reason to reconsider how it interprets its own law.
NY claims to be successful in the collection of new sales taxes, and NY still has a tremendous budget shortfall. It doesn't take much more than an abacus to determine where that math is heading.

Ah yes. Thanks Haiko. Have I mentioned on this board before that we need to push for SST?
Remember folks, every time a merchant drops ALL affiliates in ANY state due to reasons like these, it DEVALUES our channel. It's tantamount to a merchant saying "no problem, we can do this without you". The reasons behind the terminations are almost irrelevant. It's a matter of saying "your channel doesn't drive enough sales to make fixing our cart worthwhile." Don't let us all be devalued, state by state. Get behind SST. Today.

Wow, that Providence Journal article is remarkably one-sided and biased. It's not something I'd expect from a responsible newspaper.
Don't bother trying to respond or persuade the writer. I posted a short comment to the article: "This is an offensively one-sided article. I won't bother posting any substantive reply, because it's clear that this author won't consider any viewpoints that aren't completely aligned with his preconceived notions." |
