We'll be serving virtual drinks in the virtual booth in case any one wants to virtually tipple.

Brook,

If you read that thread and some of the others, you'll see that many aren't too impressed with the past experiences at the shows, nor the owners.

I can proudly say I have never attended. Anyone I want to talk to knows how to reach me, even if they choose not to.
Hmmm...wait, people could be stuck talking to me whether they want to or not there couldn't they....I could go in and have some fun!

I've gone to to the last 3 and I do the same things each time. I do a quick run through the booths to enter for door prizes. (hoping to get one of those elusive A.S. passes for '08!)

I try to attend at least one or two of the education sessions. I can usually pick up some ideas of ways to do things either differently or more effectively.

I go back to booths that I have relationships with to see if there is anything new coming up and catch up.

Then I try to find a couple booths that I think might be interesting and chat with them. Getting ideas of future projects and maybe how to integrate into current projects.

Then I spend the evening wondering why I didn't win any of the door prizes.

I know there are issues and problems, I'm not thrilled seeing some of the companies that are there, but for a smaller affiliate like myself it gives me a chance to 'mingle' without the pressure of 'can you deliver X thousands of page views a day?'.

I'll stop and see you a bit Stephanie.. (daytonknight)

I think the show is nice though it doesn't quite replace a real conference for me.

I gotta say its the only show I don't end up with half-broken feet. Not that I have a problem walking around barefoot at the real booths (and for those of you who have ever stopped by, you know this too well), but at least here there is at least the illusion that I'm wearing my shoes :-)

I had a booth at the last one and enjoyed talking to affiliates and managers who stopped by. I staffed my booth for all three days. Got some good leads. I didn't get it into the budget for this one and frankly didn't time to commit. I do plan to take a virtual walk through and will stop by the Schaaf soiree!

I stopped in and said Hi to Stephanie Was very nice gettin to chat with her.
pssst...I didn't even know you guys (well...don't actually know ya lol more like know about ya lol ....I know I remember Brook's name from somewhere so must've had him as an affiliate manager before and did have Stephanie as an affiliate manager but didn't know of the Schaff company) before I chatted with Brook at one of the earlier ones.

Agree with what's been said by Haiko, Adam, Flamingoworld...
I pretty much look at it the same as knight01...there's the good and the bad that goes with it. I've gotten to hear a couple of Wil Reynolds presentations and have really appreciated getting to hear him and a few of the other presentations have been very educational for me since I haven't been doing this for that long and definitely need a lotta learning. lol I've been able to pick up some little tidbits here and there. Got to hear a panel with Chris this year that was very interesting to listen to.

I think it's probably more appreciated by the little guys that don't normally get the opportunity to chat or meet the others so maybe that's why we look at it a bit more positively. Got to chat a bit with several of my affiliate managers and definitely appreciated that opportunity quite a bit. Got to chat some with Mellie last year and also met Kellie, too. So, for me there's been a lot of positives from them and I like attending them. (uhhh have a lotta catchin up to do now, but think it was still worthwhile to take the time to attend. )

ps.....ummm Steph......I wasn't offered any virtual drinks, tho.
