I find it very interesting that at the same time Google started sending traffic to my sites again my CPM on AdSense has nearly doubled.

Anybody else seeing similar results?

Is CPM based on impressions?

Naw. Adsense is down because people are actually finding what they searched for on my pages and they are clicking away to the merchants.

Actually, what I wrote was that my AdSense revenue is up, not down.

I'm willing to try Google AdSense one more time but, if they don't take my PO. Box this time, I will quit Google AdSense for ever.

CPM is based on impressions and it factors in click through rate and the fee per click you're gtting.

I've noticed that it seems as though CPM improves as Google gets to know your pages better. I believe it's because then they're able to serve more relevant ads to your pages which lead to better click throughs.

I'd suggest that you check to see if the improved CPM is due to higher CTR or higher fee per click.

July 4th is reported this year as the most traveled US holiday weekend of the year. Keep that in mind. With everybody outside, you will see lower traffic today and yesterday all the way around - probably much lower that Christmas.

I would suppose if ones target audience were non-US this would not be that big of a factor.

Thankfully, It hasn't worked out quite that bad thus far.

I'm used to the inevitable drop around the holidays, though I can't say I like it.
