Question Last Refered Page is blank
    Hey Gang,

When I view the details of an affiliate from SaS, there is a section:
Last Refered Page (Page where they last linked from):

Sometimes the information here is blank, while the last ip and agent used information has been populated.

How can this be, since affiliate traffic has to be from a referral.

I think the affiliate manager interface is different from the affiliate interface in SAS. I don't have a "Last Referred Page" field.

I have a "Last Page Clicked" field in daily stats. I've never seen it blank, but I'll often see only a comma.

It was explained to me that it was from Search engine bots. Considering how I don't see IP or agent info, I can't confirm it.

It is possible that this is the same issue.

    Thanks lost,
Hopefully a merchant with the same interface as me will know the answer.

Like LostDeviant I have seen the comma only for a 'referer' on the affiliate side and usually it has been through a link that had been cloaked but I've also seen 'referer' listed as some totally unrelated site that seems to have placed the link in their (MFA type) directory site.

Interesting... The reason I ask, is to check which sites our affiliates are placing our banners on. Knowing which sites our banners are placed, can help us create targeted banners for specific affiliates. Many affiliates have many websites and checking each one seems like an arduous task. Perhaps SaS could shed some light?

As has been mentioned, it's not uncommon to have a blank referrer. Especially since you've got a new affiliate program.

Most of them will be from SE spiders that have indexed the affiliates website and now found a new link that the spider puts in the SE cache for future spidering. That future spidering is what causing the blank referrer.

If you check your web logs against the times the blank referrer shows up in the network interface you may find the same visitor show no traces, this is due to them turning of the referrer information in the browser or use an outside software program that blocks referrer info. Not many do it, but some are paranoid enough to go to the trouble to maintain their privacy.

I get commas very frequently. I don't have any cloaked or hidden links on any of my sites.

I suspect some of these blank referrals are also bookmarked visits within the cookie time

    Samir,

A blank referer means it wasn't in the browser header .... can be due to bookmark, popup, new window, odd browser, or a myriad of other reasons including some mentioned above....
    Thanks,
