Subway, if I'm out and about and need to eat. Papa John's if I'm ordering a pizza (which I do count as fast food).

I can't eat at the burger places anymore. I used to eat McDonald's/Wendy's/BK on a regular basis... like, 4-5 times a week, but I decided I needed to lose weight and made myself stop eating there. After about two months, I caved and had a quarter pounder at McDonald's, and I trashed it after about three bites. The sodium content in those things is outrageous. It was easily the saltiest thing I'd ever eaten - I just never noticed it before because after 20 years of eating the stuff, you get used to it.

Added a poll to the thread. It is by far not the full list of all fast food restaurants out there. So feel free to vote for "other" and post your comments...

IMPORTANT: Multiple voting is allowed (i.e. you may pick more than one restaurant before you hit that vote button).

    Geno

PS: I eat at fast food places 3-5 times a year (on the reason that Rhea has mentioned), and when I do, they are usually one of these: Chick-fil-A, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Subway and Taco Bell.

Hey Geno thanks so much for doing that!

Alot of the fast food restaurants are changing their menus and catering to all the health concious people. I think we all need to treat ourselves once in a while, as long as it doesn't become excessive. It's all in moderation...

You can select your meat, even pick your own piece with the butcher, they cook it the way you want it, after that you're on your own with a all you can eat salad bar.

Taco Bueno ... they have $.69 party burritos. Dipped in their hot sauce they are outta this world.

But I also try to stay away from fast food.

Clearly, Fudruckers is NOT a fast food restaurant. There use to be one a mile from my house. Now the closest is 40 miles.

I missed Papa John's when I voted - I order online and usually can count on having the delivery here within 30 minutes. Plus there is nearly always an online special that works for us.

For Burgers 'n' Fries we really like Five Guys. In fact, we might go there tonight.

I do go to McDonalds occasionally - but have not eaten any beef products there since I read the book Fast Food Nation about six years ago.

There used to be some locations in Canada, including one in Brampton, but the only one left now is in Saskatoon. But rather than going all the way to SK, you could hop down to Buffalo and try it out.

BTW, I voted for Popeyes...just had an unplanned lunch there yesterday in the middle of shopping.

Is Five Guys a regional chain? I've never heard of them before.

In Chicago there are so many pizza restaurants I've never even considered a fast food pizza except when traveling and I've usually regreted that decision, with the exception of Rocky Rococo (Wisconsin). I did spend a night in an Atlanta hospital with food poisoning after eating a Godfathers's pizza a few years ago. Needless to say I haven't touched one since.

I voted for several, including "other" because when we moved down here, we discovered Sonic. The quality of the food is similar to a good Burger King, but it's a drive-in, eat in your car open all year round and the commercials are PRICELESS!. We stop there and grab something ever so often, just to reward them for the entertainment.

    Above all stands Arby's.

NO burger can beat a good (faux) roast beef sandwich! They have the best shakes, too--I never get strawberry offnotes in my chocolate shakes at Arby's.

A distant second is KFC...with Extra Crispy coating. (The Original variety sucks...not crispy enough!)

Carl's Jr: Recently added the "Teryaki Burger," and you can make a special request to replace the beef with grilled chicken to get a "Teryaki Chicken Burger" which I love. I also like a couple of their other chicken sandwiches (BBQ, Ranch).

Wendy's: My favorite french fries of any fast-food chain.

Arby's: I can't visit without getting the horribly unhealthy Mozzarrella sticks, and I usually order a Roast Turkey Ranch & Bacon sandwich.

McDonald's: Those cinnamon bun thingies are nice. The taste of a Filet-o-Fish or Big Mac meets some acquired-need that nothing else can fulfill, but of course they're hideously unhealthy. I like the McFlurry, too, but try hard to avoid the zillion calories and fat grams.

Popeye's: I can order shrimp or fish while my wife & daughter can enjoy fried chicken. Not great-tasting, just convenient.

Mountain Mike's has several excellent specialty pizzas that we love.

Gee, I wonder why my wife and I are having such trouble losing those extra pounds....

Yeah... Originated in Greater DC. Now serving most of the East Coast and a few other states. Sorry for including something fairly regional.

I got food poisoning after eating at a KFC restaurant in London in 2001. I ended up in a hospital instead of on my flight home.

Some free advice: don't eat pink chicken.
