Thanks for the info,

I for one will be reporting some cases where it seems pretty clear the only way the site was listed was because it was the editors or a friend of theirs.

I also encourage each of you to check your competition and if you see abuse - report it!

Yes, If they get multiple reports on the same abusers (I'm not gonna say it, I'm not gonna say it... okay, ebates) Then I'm sure they will look very seriously at the abuser and are more likely to remove them.

Make a report today and got this in the same day

quote:
Its current status is resolved - This report has been resolved. We do not disclose the details of our findings, but if abusive editing was found it will be rectified. Thank you for your report.

So is it BS? I bet so.

It may have worked. I put in a report listing ebates as the abuser. I too received a resolved message. I went to dmoz and typed in ebates. It came up with a link to ebates. So, I clicked on the category that it should be listed under and it was missing from the category. I don't know what that means.

    Wow, thanks for the info.

DO I have *some* 300 corrupt editors to report!!!!

This can only be a consequence of the total corruption now plaguing the DMOZ, they've noticed and are taking long overdue measures.

    Good stuff.

I know one case where the guy will charge big $$$ through PayPal to include anyone on a very competitive category!!!!!! Can you believe it?!

If the ODP is totally corrupt, why does it have a public abuse reporting system? The public forums?

    >the total corruption now plaguing the DMOZ

Total describes 'corruption', total does not refer to DMOZ ..... read again dynamoo.

Yes, in my area, sadly, editors are charging $$$ to include. I know 1 case, with total certainty and just reported the guy(again).

I was an editor myself and reported this guy for many months. They don't do anything about it, in fact I'll be surprised if they do anything now...how do you prove such a thing anyway??? I had no time to edit and was eventually deactivated some 2 years ago.

It's done totally outside of DMOZ's control, takes Paypal donations and includes you overnight.

He probably made a ton of $$$ with this.....

I meant the absurd corruption in SOME places in dmoz...etc...

Sorry it sounded different than intended.

My second site I reported is still on DMOZ after the report was 'resolved'. I wonder what the going rate for a listing on DMOZ is? Any guesses?
