    hey, welcome to ABW!

    What's AE?

AWS v.4 replaces all previous versions of AWS (XML/XLST). I noticed a 2008 date for the changeover; hope that's not right.

AE is the Cusimano script that pulls Amazon products into your website.

I got the email today from Amazon as well that says I am still making calls to the AWS 3.0 and it has to be the AE script doing it.

David? Has AE been updated and I am just a few versions behind?

I too have had an email from Amazon telling me the script is out of date. Is there a new one coming, David?

The AE script uses Amazon's ECS 3.0 service which Amazon.com will be replacing with ECS 4.0 after March 31st, 2008. A new version of AE that uses ECS 4.0 is currently in development. When that new AE is ready (before March 31), a Bulletin will be emailed to all AE users.

If you have an AE key file that has not expired, you can use it with the new version (i.e.: free upgrade). If your key expired (or was purchased before 1-Jun-2003) then you will need to purchase a renewal license: http://www.c3scripts.com/amazon/renew

    Hi David

At the beginning of last year you advised me that you were working on including all the sections of Amazon UK for browsing. Will this be in the new version?

OK, now I am beginning to panic! We have just 10 days left before ae script will no longer work with Amazon and we have not heard a word of what is happening.

Is the new script going to be ready on time?

Will we be able to use the same scripts on our site or have we got to change every single link?

    What is the situation please?

It would be good to hear what is happening David.

This is really leaving things to the very last minute.

I think David and we have all got our work cut out at the moment.

What with Amazon changing over to ECS 4.0 by March 31st and Calendars.com pulling the plug on their MyAP program on 24 March, things are going to be busy for all over the next couple of weeks.

OK - this seems to be going pear shaped.

NO COMMUNICATION FROM Cusimano at all. I wrote to them using their support system on 20th March - now the 27th and NO REPLY. There have been NO REPLIES to the pleas on this forum.

In just FOUR DAYS our AE script will STOP FUNCTIONING!!!

Looks like we may all be losing money soon :-(

I have been wondering the same thing Jill.

The old saying of "No News is Good News" springs to mind although I not sure that is the reality.

Apart from the Amazon ECS changeover, I have still got the added problem with calendars.com affilaite script. Having said that, I notice that the demo calendar sites shown on c3scripts are running on a new script to Performics so there maybe some light at the end of the tunnel.

However, unless something happens in the next day or so, most of my affilate sites with Amazon and Calendars will stop working with the resulting loss of income. Not good news at all!!

I trust David won't mind me posting here what he told me by email, to save him the bother while he's busy coding: namely that he's working on it, knows when the deadline is, has most of it done, will send out a bulletin when it's ready, and the fix will be simple on the part of ae users: simply uploading the new ae.pl when it's done.

Yes, I finally got a very brief reply to the second contact email I sent to him.

Communication with clients is a good thing to have in business!! I for one am still concerned about the timing.

Good hear about the need to only upload a new ae.pl file.

Unfortunately Amazon co uk go by GMT time.

OK, digging out their email notice I see that it does in fact say after 31st rather than on.

I have used David's scripts for years and his support levels are superior.

I too find it a little stressful having this run to the last minute so I can only assume that David must have run into a few challenges. And having run a software development company myself one is always coming across challenges....

Anyway, while no one likes to lose money, websites can be unavailable to our visitors for oh so many reasons on any given day so I figure there is no sense in getting stressed out.

It is now the 1st April and not a word.

If David has run into challenges then a simple email advising us of this would take just a minute. I could understand that and take appropriate action with my sites.

It is the lack of communication that makes me annoyed. I have asked questions in the past and never had them answered. Now we were advised that it will be ready, when it is clearly not.

True, David may well be busy with the script (I don't know if he is a "one-man-band" or has a team) but that is still no excuse for not communicating with his customers and keeping us informed if he is having a problem.

You can download the beta version that uses ECS4 from http://www.c3scripts.com/amazon/release/

v8.04.01.0502-beta works but it still needs some fixes/updates. You can go ahead and use it if you want to swtich to ECS4 now. As I continue development, I'll upload new betas. When finalized, I'll issue a formal release.

Note: I've only test this beta for amazon.com; I still have to test it for amazon.co.uk

It supports (or at least will support) all of the amazon stores (e.g.: mode=Jewelry, mode=PetSupplies, mode=SportingGoods, and more).

BTW, the development team consists of me, myself, and I

Thank you David, your post is more than appreciated!!!

I am more than happy to test the script with amazon.co.uk, and indeed have some sites that are not so important so can carry on various testing. Will download the beta now.

Will the script support all the stores for the UK to? I have asked this in the past, more than once, and not received a reply, although you had said last year you were working on it

I too am a one-man-band and can appreciate how difficult it can be at times. But no matter how busy I am I never ignore customers and always advise them if I predict there will, or even may, be a delay. Communication is very important and doesn't take a minute

    The UK stores are:

    Apparel
    Baby
    Books
    Classical
    DVD
    Electronics
    HealthPersonalCare
    HomeGarden
    Kitchen
    Music
    MusicTracks
    OutdoorLiving
    Software
    SoftwareVideoGames
    Toys
    VHS
    Video
    VideoGames
    Watches

As usual, use type=browse&mode=STORE or type=best&mode=STORE

Note: I haven't tested these mode values yet. They may not work correctly in the current beta v8.04.01.0502.
