    Microsoft buying Yahoo?!?!
Holy PPC upheaval, batman! It might be a good point of competitive balance as G tries to become Big Brother...

"Google Inc, the world's leading search engine, said on Monday it was concerned about the free flow of information on the Internet.."

Laughing my "$10 per click" ass off at comment.

Google's Chief Executive Eric Schmidt comments are hilarious -

"We would hope that anything they did would be consistent with the openness of the Internet, but I doubt it would be."

"Schmidt pointed to Microsoft's past history and "the things that it has done that have been so difficult for everyone", but he did not elaborate."

"We are concerned that there are things Microsoft could do that would be bad for the Internet," said Schmidt."

I've never seen Google so shook before.

Go back and look at G's comments when the Aquantive buy happened, this is normal bash-the-other-guy-who-bought-somebody anti-trust-bad-for-competition talk that happens with each purchase on either side.

Shook is Y, on the chopping block, practically throwing in the towel... the arguing is no longer about market share or the future, but the price they'll sell at.

Hoping here that MSN will buy them, but more importantly, will emerge as a real competitor to G. The market share of Y+M combined is still losing ground to G, so synergy and overall system improvements are what they need to focus on, not just 1+1 moves. If the share of search continues as it is, the merger would become 1+1=1.73.

This part, we completely agree on! He's like a punk kid mouthing off about nothing. Hardly making his team look like the dominant leader that they are.

After having more than a week of simultaneous headaches with Yahoo and MSN I must say I've become much less optimistic that these two can put something together that will seriously challenge G. I sure hope it happens, though.

A merger of M & Y summary.... 0 + 0 = Zero. Considering the archaic paid search platform M authored and the "steadily losing ground" - ineffective Y platform, a merger of the two would do little other than double the inefficiency. I do however get a kick out of hearing Schmidt whine and complain about how "it's not fair" - guess the go round comes round!!
