Duplicate Pages - Which to exclude?
On an informational site I am working on I am creating two versions of files. One is in MS Word and one is in PDF form. In order to avoid a duplicate content penalty, would I simply use a nofollow tag in my link? ( rel="nofollow" somewhere in the link ) Which one should I use the nofollow on? From my understanding, the SE's will index both types of file content, right?

I excluded the MS Word from spidering since some folks can't open this format whereas virtually everyone can open PDFs.

Nofollow won't prevent your page from being indexed, nofollow means the link to it won't pass it juice. Contrary to what the name would imply, spiders DO follow nofollow links, they just dont count them for seo.

I think you need to use robots.txt, meta robots or .htaccess to hide the MS word files.
