We need some suggestions on how to run our affiliate program.
    Hey All,

We are in the process of starting up an affiliate program. Thus far we have installed JROX JAM software for affiliate management. The one factor that may be an issue is that our sales are not trackable online, the sale is made over the phone. So there is a trust and integrity factor involved between us and our publishers. Our market is very niche specific, we are not looking just anyone to market our affiliate program, only those who fall into our niche. The incentive is a fairly large commission of $300 per sale.

Any suggestions and/or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Boy, that is going to be a hard one. Most affiliates, especially those good at this, won't want to waste valuable time and resources if tracking is questionable. And they won't be spending their PPC dollars on something like this.

You may want to consider a pay per lead approach.

I never waste any time with a merchant that has a phone number on their site. trust and integrity are not apart of AM only good tracking.

The only feasible approach would be to give affiliates exclusive 800 numbers that are tracked their calls. That's an expensive option. You would have to develop a loyalty factor before anyone would work with you.

    Other ideas:
    - give each affiliate a unique "coupon code" to give out ... it's their affiliate id. Make it clear that customers will get e.g. 10% off if they mention the code over the phone. This should catch most of them that got referred by an affiliate, but isn't 100%.

The downside is upsetting people who call and say "what code?" when you ask them ... so don't ask for it.

-ask the vendor for ideas or switch to a better tracking system. If you're so exclusive then you probably don't have too many affiliates to upset when you tell them to sign up again... and even if you do I bet just a small % who matter will be happy to switch.
