I already explained this before. Everyone says that one day California will fall into the ocean. Incorrect.

Right on the San Andreas fault, the rest of the US is going to fall into the Atlantic, and California will become an island. Eventually we will get it all, just not the way everyone thinks.

    LOL ...

If you watch how fast dollar is sinking, it is pretty close to what you described above except it includes both sides of the San Andreas fault.

I never claimed that Cali would fall into the Pacific Ocean. No, you all are in for a much worse fate than that. When the big shake comes the Sierras will slide, topple and crush you. You will then SINK into the Pacific Ocean. The rest of North American will be just fine and folks in Nevada will make fortunes in real estate with their newfound beach property.

Note to self: Call insurance agent and see if Kemper sells "Sink" insurance. (and what kind of premiums do they charge - earthquake coverage is 2/3 of my premium now)

    LOL

When it hits, the San Andreas actually runs thru Palmdale and Lancaster (in calif), not Nevada. All we'll get out of it is a one hour shorter drive to the beach

    and also for clarification...

california won't break off and become a big catalina island, it actually will slide north, grinding against the continental plate, and one day, LA will be where San Fransico is now.

    or so they say

Okay, all kidding aside, if you live in California you should read this book:

    Assembling California

Or if you're just an earth science geek like me, you'll find it fascinating to read. California is a mess. This book explains just how bad the situation is. (Hint: it's pretty damn bad.)

First it is a Full Moon... what do you expect

When I lived in California we has a philosophy that ran ... "Some day the BIG ONE was going to happen and when IT did - everything EAST of the San Andreas was going to fall into the Atlantic and we'd have twice as much beach property."
