    Question about unifying affiliate links
I found merchants at CJ use different formats of affiliate links such as:

    h ttp:// w ww.x xxxx xx.com/click-2xxxxx4-1yyyyyy8?url=destinationurl.htm
    and

    h ttp:// w ww.yy yyy yy.com/click-2xxxxx4-1yyyyyy8?url=destinationurl.htm

    etc....

Interestingly, these two formats of affiliate links can redirect to the same destinationurl.htm.

For the convenience in PHP programming, I am wondering if I can use either t kqlh ce.com or jd oqo cy.com as my affiliate links no matter which format is actually used for a particular product.

    any suggestions?

what's CJ/merchant's purpose or using different formats of affiliate links?

    thanks!

I'm betting that won't work. You can test if you are in doubt.

I couldn't help but notice the spaces in your links.
I am assuming you noticed that when you typed those links in, they were all *** out, correct?
There is a reason for that. Please don't post the CJ domains.
    =================================

I have a couple of sites where I stripped the CJ domains out and use just one. They have always seemed to work. Truth be told, it's more work than its worth, at least for me. I don't bother anymore.

Been away, now I'm back. Not as much, but I'm back & starting from scratch. Where I was, was fantastic. Where I am now, less so. Things have changed, become harder. So have I. Game ON!!!

    popdawg, thank you so much.

I didn't mean to spam or post my affiliate links, but just wanted to make my question as clear as possible. Otherwise people won't be able to tell the different between ********* and ********.

So, these links can be unified - just use one format. thanks

Yeah, it doesn't matter which tracking domain you use. You can use one, they can be all different. CJ started with them to help fight against programs like Norton and some other programs.

I think what dealpigg is not understanding is why there are different urls for CJ links.

Dealpigg --- cj links all used to have the same url: qksrv or something like that. A few years ago they decided to spread the links around over different nonsensical urls. I am not absolutely sure why they did it, and I'm sure others can give you the actual reasons. I think one reason was that some of the anti-spyware programs had marked qksrv as spam and so visitors running that software would have the links blocked.

Anyway, now there are several urls, but they all work the same. So, if you go to a merchant and create a link, you may get one url, and then when you create another link, you will get another url .... or you may get the same url. And yes, if you've figured out the part of the redirect (usually the item SKU ID number, or something like that) to edit for each item you want to promote on your site, it does not matter which url you use. You can pick one and use it for all your links.

As for the reason you saw asterisks when you first typed the urls in your post, it is because it is against the rules of this forum to reveal the CJ urls.

I hope this clears up the confusion you were experiencing.

The different urls cj uses like qksrv, jdbcq are on different hardware servers. I think they have multiple servers to distribute the load and also for redundacy. If one server crashes (not an unusual thing for cj), not all affiliate links go down.

If you unify the links by using only one cj server for all your links, that will work. But is that a god thing. Say the server you are using crashes, that will mean all your links are down.

Yes you "can" but should you since it might make it easier for Norton and its kin to zero in.
