    Simple Machines Forums- HELP!
I have a site. It is Wordpress with a Simple Machines forum installed at /forums.

I was installing packages to the SM forum to help with functionality. One of the packages was SEO4SMF-0.2.9.9.

Apparently, a little box was checkmarked that stripped all of the symbols like - and _ out of the URLs. I could get the main page of the Wordpress to load and the main page of the forums to load, but that's it.

I was able to get into the WP admin area (thankfully) and reworked the permalinks from there. Now my WP area is working again. (Thank God!)

But I can't get into the admin area of the SM forums at all. The front page shows, but when I click ANYTHING, I get an error. I've even gone to my WebFTP and deleted every stinkin' package just to see if that would work.

Am I hosed? Do I have to start all over? Any suggestions? *whine*

You should ask on the SMF support forums. They are generally quite prompt in their responses.

    Good luck.

You need to go edit your htaccess file and take out all the stuff it added. The easiest thing is to delete the htaccess file, then reenable your wordpress permalinks and then SMF will work fine. I have tried that plugin and have posted to their support forums to no avail, so am not using it.

Sorry ProWebAddict.... I completely did a panic freak out and ran straight to my friends.

Thanks Loxly! I'll try that. I don't know what you said..... but I'll break out the purple crayons and decipher it. LOL

    Purple crayon version:

Log into your hosting via ftp
    Delete the file .htaccess
    Log into Wordpress admin
Change your permalinks again (they will be set back to default after you delete the .htaccess file)
You will be able to get back into SMF admin after .htaccess file is deleted
    Don't reenable the SEO plugin

    Hope that helps!

Are you talking about the htaccess for Simple Machines forums or the htaccess for Wordpress?

Do I need to upload the htaccess original from the master files?

    Thanks.

The htaccess in your root folder on your domain. That is where both programs make their changes.
