    Hello,

Was hoping some of the affiliates that use merchant datafeeds could come up with some book recommendations or other, plain english sources of info.

I would like to use Php and MySQL for development of dynamic sites. Unfortunately, every php book I've looked at (not many, admittedly, since very few of them make their way up to Montana), all seem to assume you know what the heck your doing with databases.

So, the book needs to start out with the very basic of databases (I can barely use Access 2000). I'm not sure if it is best to use Access 2000/2002 and then convert it (if possible) to MySQL or just MySQL for everything. But, regardless, any book (s) have to cover databases in good, plain english, for newbie type detail.

    Any suggestions?

    Jim

I mainly use Asp & Sql Server 2000 but I have been expanding into the Php MySql world a lot more frequently lately.
The books recommended to me for PHP & MySQL:

Web Database Applications with PHP & MySQL

    Beginning PHP4 from Wrox Press

These are the two books I found most helpful in chugging through and my thanks to those that told me about them before.

    [edited to add:
Also, any book by Sams Publishing that is not a learn in 24 hours (They are a little too basic) is good.
I'm a big fan of the Sams books.)

    Game on!!!!

I like PHP and MySQL Web Development by Welling and Thomson. They do a pretty good job starting with the basics of PHP then the basics of MySQL, then put the two together.

This is the book I use, too, and it's excellent. Much recommended.

That book looks good, I think I'll order a copy.
