    PopShops is Down??
The PopShops domain isn't responding and shops are not loading on my websites.

Anyone else seeing this? It's been down about 20 minutes that I know of.

It's been down going on 2 hours that I know of now. Kinda scary when it stays down this long.

This is why I stopped using Popshops on any PPC landing pages... ugh.

OUCH! Still Down! (8:06 EST) But I did have a sale from a PopShops store at 12:40 this morning so the service must have gone down shortly before msladybug started this thread.

2nd time in a week - http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=101765 - that was the Sunday morning, the first day of Affiliate Summit.

I had asked about Blue Host - and was not answered. In fact that thread was not responded to at all. I know the P/S folks were at Summit and extremely busy, as many of us were. I'm sure that made it difficult to post here at ABW.

But, I have two new sites that open with PopShops displays and one VERY active site where half of my "Beach Shop" is dead (using NetShops products for the other half of the store). Looks like I'll be updateing to "rolling my own" pages on those three sites today.

Maybe this will help provide some info for the techs/developers...

Strange - some pages are just blank but on others I am getting the following error message:

    Warning:
    readfile(http :// shops.popshops.com/shops/php/7fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx?psps_base_url=%2Fxxxxx-xxxxx.html
&psps_show_search=true&psps_show_navigation=true&psps_show_products=true) [function.readfile]: failed to open stream: Connection refused in /home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/xxxxx-xxxxx.html on line 197
(note: xxxx'd out specific identifying code and added a couple of "spaces" to keep the code from truncating and displaying as an URL)

Exactly. PopShops is a wonderful service, but I, too, have stopped promoting any of my PopShops pages using PPC because of the outages.

Close to midnight last night I couldn't get to the dashboard so I called it a night. To get up 6 1/2 hours later and still have problems is really scary!

Some of my pages with popshops load quickly, albeit FREE of the shop right now, but others won't load at all. They just sit there and sit there..... wonder why that is.

I emailed support and did get the autoreply back right away so hopefully they are receiving email.

I am also unable to access the PopShops sites, and my PopShops pages are also not responding.

PopShops is back. Apologies for the problem.

Beachy, it has been a challenge keeping up with threads on ABW. I love having the forum but I don't see all threads and sometimes miss questions.

We have nothing to do with Bluehost. I registered the name with them ages ago when I acquired it and that's the extent of it. We have our own servers in an extremely highly regarded and secure colocation facility.

Last night's downtime was a result of a error on the part of one of our developers. Of course we've now got a fix in place so that to prevent an error like this happening again.

You can subscribe to them so you don't miss any of them. I think both email and RSS are available.

    That will certainly help!

How do you subscribe to threads that haven't been created yet? I have things set to subscribe to anything that I've posted to, but can't figure out how to subscribe to everything under PopShops.

(Caveat: Even if I'm subscribed please ALWAYS send mail to support. ABW is supplementary and we need to have you send mail so that it reaches all the right tech people, is tracked properly, etc.)

I got the same error on one of my pages this morning too.

Jessie, it is very important to make it more reliable in my case because I CACHE my webpages to reduce server load, so if someone tries to open a page when Popshops is down, my page will be Popshopless until it refreshes the NEXT DAY.

Improving reliability is always something that we are working on. Whether that is investment in hardware or investment in a facility that is top of the line or investment in development hours.

Today's outage was human error. We simply won't always be able to foresee where the errors are coming from in order to head them off. We are always committed to proactively improving our service to you.

I messaged Haiko about it. I can see where you can subscribe to a thread but don't see how you would do it with a forum. But I think I remember another merchant asking the same thing, where they can subscribe and get notifications of anything posted in their forum.

Nevermind right there in front of me

I know you can subscribe to a forum on "daily" basis but I don't believe it notifies instantly. Will ping Haiko as well

I see an option for that under:

Edit Options and then you can choose - Instant, Daily, Weekly.

Yeah, it's different. Just see Daily, Weekly for forum. I don't use RSS myself but that's another option where you should get instant.

Glad to see PopShops is back up and working now. I did e-mail support at 1:38am (EST), right after posting here. But I would assume that if your entire domain was down, you wasn't able to get support e-mails. I received a response from Jessie this morning at 10:00am.

Anyway happy to see all is working now.
