    deep linking question
    hi-

i have a question around deep linking...

i've noticed there are some merchants like dell home / small business on cj which don't seem to allow deep linking, at least their links don't let you add a destination url. however there are many sites on the internet, especially deal sites like slickdeals.net for example, which are deep linking into dell and plenty of other merchants

want an example... check out this thread, if you watch the links are passing thru cj but redirecting to a different page on dell's site. you can even change the url to go to and it works.

    link:
    http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=755993

what's the deal? is there some sort of a trick to doing this?

    thanks for any help

There are tricks, but they are probably just using datafeeds.

take for example this link (i am posting this link for educational purposes only):
    Code:
    http://www.************/click-1225267-10495476?sid=sduidp0t755993&url=http%3A%2F%2Flt.dell.com%2Flt%2Flt.aspx%3FACD%3D%25za-%25zp-%25zs%26CID%3D24471%26LID%3D566643%26DGC%3DCJ%26DGSeg%3DDHS%26DGSite%3DBF%26DURL%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fconfigure.us.dell.com%252Fdellstore%252Fconfig.aspx%253Foc%253DDDPSFP1%2526cs%253D19%2526dgvcode%253Dss%2526c%253DUS%2526l%253DEN%2526m_3%253D2GB62%2526dgc%253DCJ%2526cid%253D24471%2526lid%253D566643
the url parameter is changable, so they can deep link anywhere on the site. i'm not able to find a link that allows me to do that.

    any more ideas?

    I'll say it again, DATAFEEDS.

Request access to the company's datafeed and you'll get what you are looking for.

I got the datafeeds but still am not able to find certain things on there that other affiliates are able to link to. Any idea how they are doing it?

They could be getting a specialized version of the datafeed. As noted in the other thread, best thing to do is contact the affiliate manager for specific linking availability.
