I just saw this in another (totally unrelated) forum & thought I'd share...hope it's not a repost:

SpamArrest..isn't that what your heart does when you sit down to a Spam and Cheese Sammy?

    Just wondering

Excellent publicity for a heart seizing overrated product.

I co worker talked me into doing Hormel Chili for lunch one day last week. I nearly tossed my cookies trying to gag down that excuse for meat and beans. ICK!

    I...I have a...confession.

    I love Spam.

Their new turkey Spam is so good when you slice it thin and fry it in a little olive oil.

Sure, I cringe when I pull the can open and the meat plops out with a sucking sound, dripping odd snot-looking jelly afterwards, but once you cut it up and fry it...mmmmmmmm. I hate to say it, but it is making my mouth water even now.

I don't know what is in Spam and I don't want to know. Many a fine meat was ruined for me by knowing what it really was - scrapple, liverwurst, hot dogs, veal - I don't need to send another beloved meat to that, ahem, scrap pile.

I love Spam. Hurl your insults any which way, but know that this admission took A LOT of courage on my part.

    Patrice,

Your writing was clever, your admission so brave.

I hate to admit that SPAM too is my fav.

I fry it and eat it - with eggs it's supreme!

But when it gets in my inbox I admit that I scream!

Cheers to SPAM lovers like Patrice!

I also admit a hankering for SPAM, especially the low-sodium/low-fat variety. Nuke it with some cheese and YUMMY!!!

    From your post's link, Celicaphile...

quote:
The meat got its start in 1937 after a naming contest came up with the shorthand for "spiced ham."

I don't know how much of it is still ham, and I don't taste many spices, but yep...SPiced hAM it is.

    I'm hungry now.
