We think it was just someone looking to get to 250 posts in the afternoon, but I am investigating.

I've had it with the freakin' 2001 posts!!!!!

I just clicked onto one about a virus and was trying to figure out if I needed to do anything when I noticed who the last dadgum poster was! *insert scream here* I have a limited amount of time to keep up-to-date and am chasing my tail today because I keep hitting a brick wall with irelevant information from 7 years ago!!!!!

Sorry for the rant! I just don't get to check in here as often as I'd like and am really ticked that someone's twiddling my time away with utter, foolish nonsense!

The thing that befuddles me... why posts from 2001? If someone wanted to hit 250 by replying with nonsense to any thread (because there appears to be no rhyme or reason to the posts), why not just do that with current threads?

    Very weird.

    why posts from 2001?
Maybe he, she, or it thought no one would notice, and couldn't figure out new posts actually bump threads up? lol

I will say that there are some incongruities with the IP of the poster, that combined with a registration spike in the past 24 hours, definitely makes it look like something has been "orchestrated".

We recently had someone else score a ton of posts in a short period of time, didn't we? Any relationship between the two?

When you see someone on a spree like that, use the report button to get a moderator's attention. We usually see them, but sometimes we actually go offline for awhile and don't catch the latest new old posts hitter.

Different IP addresses? Pulling up old posts? Disrupting the forum? Argh... just when you thought it was safe to go in the water.... Don't people have better things to do with their time?

Note: I haven't yet seen the threads in question. I have no idea what is in them or what they are about.

BUT my first thought upon seeing this thread was, maybe this was a newbie who was advised to use the search function- and actually DID??? The search function returns many ancient threads...

Jus to clarify what I mean, when I was new it was all I could do not to bump a few old threads too, just to ask if they were still relevant or not. I never did, but was very tempted to at one point.

The ones in question are obvious when you see them.

He would have had to search specifically for the year 2001. The subjects of the threads themselves were all over the place, the only thing that they had in common was the year.

You can run but you can't hide. I eventually blocked the user so I'm no longer seeing their posts (or maybe that's because a mod removed them), but they were a real PITA.
