We are really excited here in Omaha. I have two full passes to the Olympic swim trials. My daughter is an active swimmer, Olympic hopeful and it was my gift to her as probably a once in life time thing it would come to our home town. The other ticket is for my wife and I or for my daughter to bring a friend, but we want to spread that one around so lots of people can experience it.

Wow. That's just the way I feel. Five months and counting. Amateur sports are so much more genuine than pro sports. (That's just this man's opinion - don't want to start any grumbling here.)

I'm looking forward to it. Don't like all the sports but always enjoy the track and field stuff.

    oooooh good luck to her

I love all the human interest stuff about the athletes and love seeing all the stuff about the different countries and learning more about them.

    pray for the people
I too waiting for the great olympic games.. But it is sad for china to meet an earthquake at this time.. But the statement of IOC makes us to feel happy that there is no problem for conducting olympics due to earth quake.. Although let us pray for the people who died during earth quake.. Let us cheer up for the great upcoming event..

Olympic Swim Trials are just a month away. They are currently filling the pools here at the new Qwest center in Omaha. Actually pulled in a fire truck and using it's pumps to fill the pool. After it is all filled they are letting those that helped fill it take a dip in the pool!

Lots of excitement here in Omaha as we prepare to narrow down the great swimmers of the US to determine who will be heading to China.

Very exciting. I love the Summer Olympics.
I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die
to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there
isn't and die to find out there is.

I too think the opening ceremony will be great. I love the Olympics, we're interested in the martial arts this year. That is my grandson's sport and he is very excited about it. I have to admit the winter games are my favorite... Maybe because we have winter here about 5 months of the year.

Anybody watching NBC and that 4x100 relay? Americans came and beat France, who were talking some trash beforehand. One of the best swimming races I've even seen.

    Hey Trust,

I saw the relay too. It was incredible! I was trying not to blink because it was so darn close. I swear he didn't breathe at all near the end there.

Here in Canada I get our own CBC for the Canadian version of the Olympics, but I get another channel with the American version so it's great! We get double coverage. If one channel is boring, the other usually has something interesting.

We heard the reports about them talking trash before the race also. Didn't see any actual footage of it, but if it's true, I'd say they need to work on their "technique" some. It should be:
    1. Win.
    2. Then talk trash (if you must).

The race was great though. I normally don't much care about the swimming competition, but I was literally on the edge of my seat.
