    Affiliate URLs Vs. Merchant URLs
Total Newb question. I was going through one of the posts in yellow and believe I became more confused than I started Lol. Unfortunately the thread was closed so I couldnít ask my question there? Iím a merchant and want to clarify whether or not I can include my Site/Program in my posts/Replies?

This is the response that threw me off..

Making $$ has NOTHING to do with the policy.

Allowing affiliates to protect their URLs if they so desire has everything to do with it. It's affiliate URLs not Merchant URLs. Affiliates don't typically buy ad space here, least I've never seen that happen.

Merchant's can post their own URLs (not an affiliate URL) but they aren't allowed to spam the board with their URLs. Spam postings will be deleted.

If there's a legitimate need to post your URL, that's fine. (Legitimate needs are pretty rare: If you're responding in an official capacity to a thread about your program, for instance.) If it's the least bit spammy, you'll be seen in a bad light by affiliates. If it's outright spam, you'll be banned by the moderators.

If you're a newbie, you probably want to spend far more time reading than posting. Start with the threads in my signature.

I think what you were referring to was the posting of *other peoples* urls. Don't do it.

For your own program, you will get sig rights eventually (see the part where it says under the posting box that it takes 250 posts?), or you can purchase advertising to make a new program announcement or purchase banner advertising etc.
