AOL buys social network Bebo for $850 million

I've never even heard of them. They say they have 40 million people, not sure if that's accurate or not. Doesn't really look like much of anything.

Congrats to AOL! God knows we need more and more social networks. Why I was just saying the other day we need at least 54 more social networks. AOL will help push this one into the ground and we can have 10 more spring up in it's place. GOOD SHOW!*

Bebo isn't anything small. They're the #1 social network in the UK and even have their own application platform like Facebook. I'm seriously considering building a Bebo app, so way to go AOL!! Finally made a good purchase.

I'd like to see LinkedIn become more popular. I think that one could be utilized in the business world.

I have some friends in the UK who use Bebo...it's pretty popular over there. But I guess they feel the same way about Facebook as we do about Bebo... they're like, "umm what's this Facebook crap?"
