linkshare transaction reporting - what is the delay?
    Hi,
what is the delay between the real time actions, to the reporting showing on linkshare? is it a 2 hours delay? or does it vary? any factors for this?

I mean normallly it would seem to me like its a 2 hour delay, but now for example I've had many hits in the last 4 hours, and not one sale showed up... so it made me wonder, how does it go exactly...

    thanks!

It varies by merchant - from hours to weeks.

    weeks??

by merchant? does it mean that the merchant itself is deciding whether to show the transaction or not? and its not automated?

what about bad cc's and returns, can the merchant cancel the transaction after it has been posted? if for example I sold a product on february, and the customer has just returned it, could i be uncredited?

    Yes to everything you've asked.

Each merchant posts transactions on their own schedule. Some (Home Marketplace, Walter Drake, Mikasa, for example) will post within a few hours. Ovestock and Wal-Mart seem to post the following day, and some, such as PersonalizationMart, seem to post about a month later.

Some merchants post when a sale is completed in their system. Some post when the item is shipped, and some do not post until the return day period has expired.

And yes, virtually every posted transaction is subject to reversal if the product is returned, defective, a bad cc, or if you get the vile, despicable "Out of Stock - Unable to Ship" (though that is more of a CJ thing than LS).

Interesting info... and is it possible to know in advance whether the merchant would post only like a month later for example?

I concur with everything AffiliateHound said. It's all up to the merchant. The only way to know a specific merchant's schedule is to ask them.

I also notice that reporting is very slow on the weekends. Things seem to catch up on Mondays.

That would also be due to specific merchants' schedules. The Linkshare merchants for which I have multiple transactions daily are not slow on the weekends.

Maybe one day Linkshare will catch up to the rest of the networks on this one.

    Hello there

"Clicks and impressions are updated daily at 12am GMT. Only one click per link per PC will be recorded each day. Be assured that LinkShare Synergy software
tracks the sales information immediately. Reports to the LinkShare
Network are updated every morning (EST) upon merchant confirmation"

This is a reply by Linkshare support.

So, you may need to allow a little time for clicks

    Regards

You should wait 12-24 hours to see new click reports.

This is blatantly incorrect. Clicks and impressions are reported closer to 12pm GMT for the previous day's activity. If by "Reports" they mean sales, they are updated when the merchant uploads that information to Linkshare and that can happen any time throughout the day.
