I originally posted this in the CJ Forum, and I also noticed that I had screwed up my math( duh!), anyway...

I was curious about just how much parasite ware is out there so I ran a test using some javascript from that I modified to write to a database and I noticed the following parasites found over a one hour period at one of my sites.

Over this period there were a total of 333 unique visitors with 102 parasites found, about 33 %.

I don't know if any of these delete CJ cookies or how they effect sales - any feed back would be appreciated.

    Count Parasite Name
    1 BDE
    1 CnsMin
    8 CometCursor
    1 Comload
    2 DialerOffline
    1 FreeScratchAndWin/v5
    5 HotBar
    1 HuntBar/BTIn
    3 HuntBar/BTLink
    2 IEAccess/IEDial
    2 IGetNet/v4
    1 ILookup/Ineb
    1 InternetWasher
    4 lop/Toolbar
    2 MoneyTree/NSUpdate

    7 MySearch/MyWay
    1 NetworkEssentials/ME
    11 NewDotNet/B
    1 Onflow
    1 OnlineDialer/MaConnect
    1 RapidBlaster/AInst
    12 SaveNow/Db
    1 ShopNav/SN

    7 TopText
    1 Transponder
    3 Transponder/MSView

p.s. if anyone wants the code (it's javascript and coldfusion) please let me know

Richard, thanks for reposting here and recalculating.

Now all we need is for someone to come up with a way of hijacking AdSense commissions and my faith in humanity will have been shattered forever.

How difficult would it be to write this just to a file, instead of a DB?

If that looks discouraging, keep in mind that the doxdesk detection script is unable to detect many of the most common parasites, such as TopMoxie, Gator, etc. I have 4 paras installed on my computer and the doxdesk script only detected one. This is no slam on doxdesk whatsoever. It's a programming issue. And to point out that the 33% that why2kit experienced is probably an under inflated percentage.

Ms.B, you're right. I infected my sons m/c with everything I could find and the script does not catch them all, but it's a start.

I would happily sell parasite removal software if there was a company out there with a good affiliate system, and software that did not remove tracking cookies (CJ, etc).

Does anyone know where I can find a list that shows which parasites removes or messes with CJ cookies ?
