March 21st, 2008, 11:55 PM #1Best Way to Create You Tube Videos?
I was asked what is the best way to create and upload videos to You Tube?
Although I have watched videos on You Tube, I have not created any.
My brother is interested in creating videos about the impact of closing hospitals from an economic/social and medical perspective [i.e. the impact of the closing of many of the services of Cabrini Medical Center -- the concern is about smaller hospitals around the country being closed]
I told him to get a camcorder. I believe anyone can open a free You Tube account and subsequently upload videos.
Does anyone have any tips?

Get a Flip Video camera. It makes the process very simple.

Most digital cameras can take movies as well. You download them to your computer and upload them to youtube after you create an account there.
The flip is much easier, but if he has a camera already, that might work.Deborah Carney

I post to you tube regularly, open a free account and read the files types accepted first. Also there are other free video sites that will actually pay you a "prize" for a great video. break dot com is one for instance. The primary demographic for this site is males aged 15 to 45.....but if they feature your video on their homepage, you actually get paid for it, something like $200, I know the amount awarded goes all the way up to $1,000

Research the following:
Windows Movie Maker - Free Download (At least it was free 12 months ago)
Great for creating Youtube Video with effects, credits, and lots more.
Stoik Video Converter (Free Version)
Converts video formats from camera to Youtube - if necessary.
Great for PC capture - You are not likely to use it with a video, but may find it useful
I have have only used these tools once or twice and so not an expert at all.

mr_jones, those look like great suggestions
I found the sites and sent your suggestions.
Loxly, thanx for your help.
Rolet, he hasn't created any video yet (he's a real beginner when it comes to creating videos) so I doubt he'll get a prize, but thanx for the encouragement
