    Hey all,

I just installed my new speech recognition software and I'm talking this instead of typing! Wow is this cool! What a timesaver this is going to be.

For those of you who build a lot of pages and especially those of you that are trying to add content to your sites I think you should really look into this. This is awesome!

I have carpal tunnel so I'm trying not to type is much these days, but still have a lot I want to say - so I was testing to see if I could speak to these boards instead of typing posts. I'm a really slow typist so this is going to help me a lot on some new articles I plan to write and in all the e-mails I have to answer every day.

Does anyone else talk instead of type?

Not bad, I only see one error ("to type is much").
I wonder how it knew to do this ("to say - so I was ") or did you go back and add that?

What speech recognition software are you using?

    Heyder,

It does interpret some things wrong like high instead of Hi.

I think I told it to put the dash there.
You can tell it to do punctuation and line breaks.

I'm using Dragon Natually 7 Preferred Version.
$200 bucks (comes with headset). But XP has speech rec. too. You just have to install it from disk. Not quite as good and harder to train.

After you train Dragon it even evaluates all your emails and word docs to get a better idea of your writing style. Over time it makes less and less errors and gets better at context as it learns how you talk.

DUH, I just typed this whole post. Took a shower, came back and just typed without thinking. Old habits die hard!

Yea I tried the XP one, it was pretty cool, then I forgot to turn it off, and forgot I turned it on a few weeks passed..... so I'd be tpying away, and suddenly the message I was typing would go nuts, I'd sit there and bang the keyboard and shout at it and it'd just get worse, I must have been going nuts for like 3 weeks before I realized that when I had music on playing quietly it would occasional get caught by the mike, causing it to create characters on the screen.. Duh

But over all it was pretty cool, just needs a lot of voice training to be really accurate.

    Cheers
