Bizarre. Scared the hell out of me, thought they were going to say "we are banning all your sites - take that!"

Instead they called because I had signed up for an adsense account under one domain, when that was slow to be activated, I signed up under another domain and was instantly approved. Later they approved my first domain.

So they were calling to wonder if I was going to activate it and if I had any suggestions. Besides pumping up the reporting and banning, not really (not much else is there?).

They must be pretty damn serious about this venture to be calling people on the phone to see if they need help getting their program going.

Chet- It kinda makes me wonder, though, if some of Google's competition isn't going to start running the same type of program. I like Google's program, it's great, but it also might be ushering in a new round of competition for content producers to pick from. Every month I keep thinking to myself, "The next 12 months are going to be realllllly interesting!" Then something new happens.

I can only imagine how you must have felt.

    Phone Rings....
    Chez - Hello
Google - This is so and so with google.
Chez - Un huh - gulp.
Google - We're calling to discuss some of your sites.
Chez - Un huh - gulp.

Overture are planning a similar thing to AdSense. But since Google doesn't deal with parasites, my vote is for them.

Boy am I glad *I* didn't get that phone call. But then I always feel guilty when a ticket inspector looks at my ticket too, even though I *know* it's the right one

I got called from Google about the same thing also.

My 800 number was forwarded to my cell that rang while I was waiting out a thunder storm at a roadside rest stop. "ahem, ahem, sorry I'm not at my desk right now to activate adsense."
