Ebay Partner Network Launches in Less Than 6 Hrs. - Videos Up
Was just checking, just in case they launched a little early and it looks like they have some video tutorials up already, setting up links, reporting, payment, FAQ's etc.

I find it interesting that one of the "partners" they let in their home-grown program early was starware.com/MIVA.

    Grrrrr.

Are they going to be prepared to handle the onslaught of applications Tuesday? Would they just auto approve? Would they auto approve current CJ affiliates?

Hopefully they will have planned for most people wanting to change to the new system on tuesday, it should be obvious to them that most will want to change over ASAP. It's in their own best interests to make the changeover plain sailing

I'm planning to wait a few days.

I just watched the video tutorials. They were pretty informative and gave a good overview of the program.
I see that PayPal will be a payment option which I applaud.
I was concerned about the flexible destination tool as it seemed to be absent. The new link generator tool appears to be the replacement with pretty much the same functionality.
I'm anxious to see if the editor kit has any new functionality such as eBay store listings.
I hope those reports are generated in realtime.

    I applied.

I wonder how long it will take for approval.

Edit: Obviously not very long. That was nice and easy.

    Thanks, Tuan,

It took a while to boil down "business description" to 100 characters, but got approval within a minute of submission

I hope the rest of their new system is as efficient.

PAYPAL is a payment option. Now that is funny.

You think some people will be upset that there isn't a check option for payment? I'm going to use Paypal since I have a few indys that I get paid that way from.

Since I'm a seller on eBay, PayPal is not an option because PayPal charges me every time I receive a payment at 2.9% plus 30 cents for each transaction. My only option is direct deposit, which is cool with me.

    Cool
assuming I make anything, I welcome Paypal payments -for a while, anyway- because I need to build a little paypal money for shopping online.

I switched out the few text links I needed to, so just waiting for the editor kit. Text links are only javascript from what I can tell, no html. And I guess no real time reporting, at least with clicks. Time will tell with all of that.

Do you think we have to use that entire code starting with 'function getCacheBuster()'

or can we just use the html between the noscript tags?

I tried it boths ways, and both take me to the correct destination page. The question is, will it track without all that java stuff?

I'm not sure how all that works. I know when I made a couple of text links, I picked geo target so it'll automatically go to the ebay country page of the visitor. So I guess I need to leave all that in to make that happen, not sure. Just made 2 text links and got a banner up.

I hadn't thought of that. I like the idea of it going to the country of origin. It's just that this now becomes something other than a simple global search and replace. In order to insert this new code, I am literally going to have to edit something like 20,000 links manually.

Okay, I just learned something new. If you create a link to a Custom URL, it gives you a choice of codes:

    1. JavaScript

    2. URL Only

and the option of adding an impression pixel to track how many times a user viewed your link.

However, if you select "Custom URL" which to me is like using the old Flexible Destination tool, then it does not let you use the Geo-Target feature. You have to pick the country.

The good news about this is I can use search and replace to change out my Flexible Destination Tool links. Whew!

Also, I think we'll need to change our "SID=" to "customid=" to get that information.

Ok, so you need to use the javascript to geotarget. I just switched it out to the regular html (custom url)
