Warning: Potential Issue with Create a Custom Link with Dual-Network Merchants
If you use the "Create a Custom Link" feature on SAS (particularly with merchants who are on multiple networks), you might want to research their links and/or test a custom link before you use this feature.

The reason this is especially important for merchants on multiple networks is that the merchants often put special coding in place to determine which network's tracking pixel to display. This is usually done through a gateway page or extra parameters added to the URL. Run a standard link through Rex Swain's HTTP Viewer (or any comparable tool) to see if either of these methods is used.

Today, I built a custom link for a SAS merchant that also has a CJ program. I clicked through the link and placed a test order. Looking at the HTML on the confirmation page, I found a CJ tracking code but no SAS tracking code. I then did the research listed above and saw that the merchant needed a parameter added to their URL to identify SAS traffic. I rebuilt the custom link with the extra parameter, clicked through it, and placed another test order. This one had the SAS tracking code on the confirmation page and tracked fine.

That's because Coley is the affiliate marketing version of EF Hutton.

And rightfully so. We have a few more around here.

Thanks for identifying this MC, in case I need to talk to a merchant about it in the future.

What's even more impressive is that Brian is out of the office today.

Thanks Michael... I don't have my usual IM client so didn't get those but I did get the email so I will look into it.

This is one of those things that has come up a lot more with merchants utilizing many affiliate networks at a time and we are able to provide them solutions most of the time...
    Thanks,
